Mockdrill

 Mock Drill is a complete demonstration of how to react


whenever a disaster occurs.
 Mockdrill is the rehearsal of standard operating
procedures to be followed in case of any emergency like
fire outbreak, natural calamities like earthquake,
tsunami, cyclones, floods etc.
Purposes:
• To review Disaster Management Plans
• To highlight the roles and responsibilities of various Stakeholders
• To enhance coordination among Emergency Support Functions of
various stakeholders.
• To identify the gaps in resources, manpower, communications and
in any other field.

• To retain skills among the workers systematically so


that they perform quickly.
• To improve the overall performance of the
organization.
• To prepare workers for higher jobs by developing
advanced skills in them.

It is a statement to communicate the scope of the


exercise to the entities participating in the mock
drill.
For example: A Mockdrill to assess the efficacy of SOPs in
case of fire outbreak in Patel Market, sector 15.
Objectives

for example: the shopkeepers and customers will


respond and recover from fire outbreak
 Functional or specific objectives

for example: fire brigade will reach the spot within


15 min.
Scenario narrative
describes the events leading up to the time the exercise
begins and continues till termination.
For example:
4:30 p.m. The gas stove in Punjabi Dhaba blasts injuring
one cook and two assistants who were inside the
kitchen. The hotel is on fire. The Patel Market complex is
on fire. The market has 50 shops.

4:40p.m.The local Fire Department (FD) dispatch
receives numerous calls about the fire
The local Police Department was notified
4:55p.m.The Local FD set ups a triage area for the
injured and contacts the Emergency Department at
PGIMER for patient destination and hospital bed
availability

5:00 p.m. The crowd on the street grows quickly as


uninjured personnel and the walking wounded begin
evacuating from the two intact sides of the market
5:10 p.m. The local FD and PD complete their search
5:15 p.m. The first victims begin arriving at the ED
