INTRODUCTION
Career preferences are free opportunity to select a desired
career. It is also a decision making in a confusing situation
which occurs during secondary level.
This study assessed 100 grade nine (9) students in
Kabasalan National High School in choosing career path at
early stage on course offered by the school using the career
planning self check tool in identifying the factors affecting the
course preference of grade nine students in terms of
decision-making and interest, peer influence, considerations
about the institutions and future job opportunities.
Innovation. The career planning self check tool will
utilize in order to recognize their potential or skills.

Discussion of Results
Table shows that the level of students
decisions-making and interest is the main factor
in choosing their course of preference with an
average weighted mean of
4.39 ,this means that most of the grade nine
students choose their course according to its
interest and skills, followed with the level of
students future job opportunities with an
average weighted mean of ( 3.78). This means
that they consider the likelihoods on the future
job opportunities globally in demand courses.
Hence, the level of students’ consideration about
the institution and level of students’ peer
influence suggestively give slight impact on the
career –decision making of some grade nine
students.
CONCLUSION
Career decision-making is one of the struggle
among the grade nine students of the Kabasalan
National High School. Where, it should be carefully-
well chosen because it affects their vocation and
profession in near future.
Therefore, the schools should assess students
on their course preference to guide on their course
of interest to fit them in the world of work efficiently.
