Vocabulary Warm Up

Work with a partner and write down all the singular and plural
nouns you know in English. Be quick, because you only have two
minutes!

For example: boy/boys, scarf/scarves, cup/cups…

Teacher instructions: When the time is over, get students

to share their ideas as a class and they write down any
words they didn’t have before.
This or That?

We use ‘this’ to talk about singular nouns that are close to us.
We use ‘that’ to talk about singular nouns that are at a distance from
us.
We can also use both to talk about things on their own.
For example: Can you think of another
“This orange scarf is beautiful!” example?
“Yes, it is. I like that yellow one, too!”.
These or Those?

We use ‘these’ to talk about plural nouns that are close to us.
We use ‘those’ to talk about plural nouns that are at a distance from
us.
We can also use both to talk about things on their own.

For example: “Do you like these pink shoes?”,
