Solid Figures
- Has three dimensional figure
(length, width and height)or
FACES, VERTICES and
EDGES.
Solid Figures are classified
into either POLYHEDRONS
or NON-POLYHEDRONS.
Polyhedron
- Surface of the figure whose
sides/faces are ALL polygons.
- Plural polyhedra
FACES – the flat surface in the
figure
EDGES – the line or TWO
FACES in the figure.
VERTEX – the corner or 3 or
more edges meet at the point in
the figure.
Types of Polyhedrons
1. Regular Polyhedra
- A convex polyhedron whose
faces are congruent regular
polygons
2. Semi-Regular Polyhedra
- When two or more different
types of polygon become faces
of a polyhedron
Example of Polyhedron
- prisms
PRISMS
- With two bases that are
CONGRUENT and PARALLEL. The
other rectangular faces are called
“Lateral faces”.
PRISMS
- It can be cut into slices which are all
the same shape.
Example of Polyhedron
- pyramids
Solid which are not Polyhedra
