POLYGONS
These are enclosed, two-dimensional figures
composed of at least 3 line segments meeting from
end to end called sides. The name is derived from the
Greek words polus which means many and gonia
which means corner or angle.
PARTS OF A POLYGON

Apex - Is the vertex where two sides of

equal length meet opposite the base of the
top part of a figure.

Base - The base of the polygon is

declaring the lowest part. The base is
commonly known as bottom line of the
shape.
PARTS OF A POLYGON
Vertex - A vertex typically means a corner
or point where two lines meet.

Interior angles - are the angles within a

polygon made by two sides.

Exterior Angles - An exterior angle is

formed by extending one side through its
vertex.

TRIANGLE
IRREGULAR POLYGON
An irregular polygon does not have all its sides equal and not all
the angles are equal in measure.

SCALENE Triangle:
A scalene triangle is an irregular polygon,
that has all its sides unequal in length and
also, all the three interior angles are
unequal in measure.
IRREGULAR POLYGON
RIGHT Triangle:
A right triangle is also an irregular polygon
because it has an angle always equal to 90
degrees, and also the side opposite to the
right angle is the longest side.

ISOSCELES Triangle:
An isosceles triangle is a triangle that has any two sides
equal in length (out of three) and the angles opposite to equal
sides are equal in measure.
IRREGULAR POLYGON
RECTANGLE:
A rectangle is also an irregular shape that
has only its opposite sides equal in length.
But all the angles are equal to 90 degrees.
