LITTLE BY LITTLE

What Doth The Lord Thy God Require of Thee?

Deut 10:12-13 And now, Israel, what doth the Lord thy God require of thee, but to fear the Lord thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the Lord thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul, To keep the commandments of the Lord, and his statutes, which I command thee this day for thy good? KJV

Little by little all things grow Plants and trees - from the seed we sow: The beginning of life is under the ground, In darkness and silence all profound; Then a tiny shoot comes up to the light, And the plant increases in beauty and might. Little by little bad habits grow How they begin, we scarcely know. A little wrong act, a little false word, One pleasant drink in the poison - cup stirred, Repeated once in awhile again, And soon we are caught in a cruel chain. Little by little good principles grow, Steady and sure though sometimes slow: A little act done because it is right Soon comes to be choice - a real delight Until second nature it grows to be, And we walk in its light and liberty.

God does have requirements for our lives. We cannot just live like we want and expect our God to be there for us when we call! The verses above give us a picture of our religion. We should religiously fear the Lord, walk in ALL His ways, love Him and serve Him with ALL our heart and soul, plus keep His commandments and His statutes! Why? Its for our GOOD! When our forefathers came to America they dedicated this land to the God of Creation, the God of the Holy Bible. This land became the most admired land because of Gods hand being upon us, but things have changed and are continuing to change under this President. President Obama has declared himself to be a Christian, but states that Jesus is not the only way to Heaven and that America is a nation of many gods. Our President may be religious in the things that Christians believe, but a true born again believer understands that NO ONE comes to the Father without coming through the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ! Our President does not have a clear understanding of what a Christian is. Many people believe that because they were born in America they are a Christian. Some believe that because they had God fearing parents, they are Christians. Others believe because they attempt to live good clean lives or have their names on a church roll, they are considered to be Christians. As Jesus told Nicodemus, Ye MUST be born again. (John 3:7) People do not understand that we are saved through a personal relationship with Christ. We must have another birthing in order to go to Heaven. The Scriptures below explain why and how we are birthed into the family of God. Friend, religion is the practice of what you say you believe, and while religion can keep you at a distance from the destruction of sin, it cannot make you clean and acceptable without God in your heart. God will not accept anything less than perfect, and we just can never make ourselves perfect and acceptable without a new birth!

What Doth The Lord Thy God Require of Thee?

1 Peter 1:22-25 Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently: Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away: But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you. KJV

do we allow our children to sit under teachers who stand against our God? I believe in education, but our schools are not educating our children. They are promoting their beliefs in the minds of our children eight hours a day. Wake up! Its not our childrens fault; it is parents who will give an account. We are told in the Word of God to teach our children the ways of God and we have left the teaching up to our schools. God help us to wake up before its too late! I saw on the internet that our President has federally funded a program that will teach the Muslim faith to our children and If they will take three weeks of studying the Koran they can bring their grades from D+ to an A. He says the Muslim faith is beautiful and that we owe it to the Muslims because we have killed thousands in the wars. I thought everyone killed their enemy when in war! We are commanded to put on the armor of God. Our armor is not swords and bombs, it is the Word of God, which saves the believer and dismantles the enemys power. Our job is to rescue the perishing and our America is perishing from within. We have an election coming up in November. I would never tell anyone WHO to vote for, but I will encourage you to vote for those who honor God and His Word. Forget the party, and vote for the person. If we do not vote, we cannot complain when we lose our freedom. Our forefathers shed their blood to give us freedom, and we often will not even open our mouths to defend that freedom that was given us at so great a price. Its time to wake up, stand up, and speak up; but, lets do it with the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives. Before we begin to speak up, we must clean up, then our God will walk before us and make a way of deliverance. We are your children, Lord, Shake us, Wake us and Fill us with your love. -----Jerry Brewster

The seed of our fathers produces flesh, which is as grass. It will wither and it will fall away (die). Our flesh is cursed with death and our flesh cannot take us to Heaven. God clearly says that NO ONE can enter Heaven with sin. We must have a new body in order to enter, and only those who are born again will receive a new body! We must appear before God the Father as if we had never sinned, and we can only do that by coming through the blood of the perfect Lord Jesus Christ. We must be birthed into the body of Christ to be seen as perfect. As Jesus said to Nicodemus, Ye MUST be born again. There is NO HOPE outside of the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. Gods word is His seed and faith is the fertile (belief) egg. When the seed of the word of God and the fertile egg of faith come together in the heart of man, there is a conception and a new birth that takes place. This is a true Christian. Our first man will die, but our second birth is incorruptible and cannot be killed!!! Thats why we Baptists say you cannot loose your salvation, because you cannot kill Gods Word! I cannot save myself, I cannot keep myself and I cannot not kill what God has done. My salvation is all in the hands of my God. My place is to see to it that I live this new life in a way that shows my thanks and praise for what He has done for me! We should strive to be the best child He has. If you can be happy in the hog pen of sin, then you had better check out what you may be thinking is salvation. If you live in sin and you are not being corrected, check it out, you may never have been born of the Spirit of Christ. Jesus said, Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. John 5:39 There are many religions in our country today. There are Temples to other gods all over this country. We should never have allowed this to take place. We have always accepted any person who wanted to come to America and enjoy the freedom that we have, but we are dead wrong to allow others to bring their gods into our lives. Christians allow every man to decide for himself what he believes about God. Atheists are free to believe what they will, but they do not want you and I to be able to live what we believe; and they want our God put out of our country. As Christians we have allowed the religion of evolution to be taught to our children as fact. Evolution is a religion. We allowed prayer and the Bible to be removed from our schools and left evolution to be taught. What are your children learning in school today? Do you believe what they are being taught? Why

GOD WORKS IN MYSTERIOUS WAYS HIS WONDERS TO PERFORM.

Last night Jerry went to the grocery store to pick up a few items for our supper. When he got in the truck he realized he had lost $10. He searched everywhere and could not find it. He looked in the sacks when he got home, but it was nowhere. The next morning he looked the truck over again thinking surely he had missed it. As he was walking into his office the Lord reminded him of two times our lives were saved because of someone elses loss. In our beginning days of marriage, we suffered while learning how to handle money. Jerry would get paid on Friday, and by Wednesday we would be searching for money for gas, bread and milk. After about three months, we finally decided to call my parents and ask if we could borrow $5 until Friday. We did not want to ask anyone for help. It was so important that we show that we could handle our lives. But, we gave up and drove to the Seven-Eleven and put our last dime in the pay phone to ask to borrow $5. The phone was broken and took our last dime. We panicked! Jerry, not knowing what else to do, put his finger into the number one on the phone and began to dial over and over. All of a sudden dimes began to pour out of the phone. His hands were full. Then we didnt know what to do because it didnt seem to be ours. Jerry took it into the store and the man said as far as he was concered it was ours because the phone company had not come to fix the phone. We counted the dimes and it was exactly $5. For the next three months we would run to the phone when we got desperate. God has unusual ways to feed dumb kids! About a year later, we had a sweet baby boy and now we had to have money for milk and baby food. Jerry had gone to work for a man who was starting his own business. He was building fall out shelters. He waited three weeks to pay us and then his check bounced! We were needy. We needed milk and bread. Jerry said he didnt know what he was going to do, but he had to do something, so he took off walking down the street. It had snowed and when he got to the corner he looked down at the curb. There was a five dollar bill barely showing in the snow. That $5 took care of our needs that day. As Jerry walked into the office remembering what God had done for us he wondered whose need was met with his lost $10 bill. He started rejoicing that God had allowed him to help someone like we were. He then looked into his check book and there was a $20 bill. He never puts cash in his check book. He has no idea where that bill came from but he felt like God was rewarding him for his willingness to bless whoever found his $10 bill. Did a needy person find Jerrys $10 bill? Did God put that $20 bill in Jerrys check book? I dont know, but its a pleasant thought and it might have happened just like that!!! -----Gloria Brewster

The Winds of Fate

One ship drives east and another drives west With the selfsame winds that blow. Tis the set of the sails And not the gales Which tells us the way to go. Like the winds of the sea are the ways of fate, As we voyage along through life: Tis the set of a soul That decides its goal, And not the calm or the strife. ----Ella Wheeler Wilcox

The steady will of Christ constitutes the law of the universe and makes it a cosmos instead of a chaos, just as His will brought it into being in the beginning. - A.H. Strong

I am in favor of Laughing. Laughter has something in it in common with the ancient winds of faith and inspiration; it unfreezes pride and unwinds secrecy; it makes men forget themselves in the presence of something greater than themselves; something (as the common phrase goes about a joke) that they cannot resist. ----G.K. Chesterton

INSPIRATIONS

FROM MY HEART TO YOURS!

I have just spent a little over one day writing an article for this section of the paper. I was uneasy when I finished it and troubled that I had not used any Scripture in the article. The Holy Spirit whispered in my ear last night and said I had been on my own band wagon, getting things off of my chest, as some would say. Thats not what this paper was meant to be. Its not a paper to just get things off my chest. It is a paper to encourage believers and to help them to hope in the promises of God.

have not trusted the new man. It takes faith to live through the new man. The new man lives through love and love leaves you open to hurt! The new man puts others first and not self. The new man will make you like Christ and Christ went to the cross. Yes, and we likewise will have to go to our cross, if we live like Christ. Did Christ stay on that cross? Did that cross accomplish Gods work? Did that cross make a difference in your life? Well, your cross will also be effective and accomplish what God has given you to do. Death is evident to all of us. I dont know about you, but I want to hang in the middle where Jesus hung, as innocent, not on the side with the murderers. I want my life to be for a worthy cause. The cross is not the end! Its the beginning for the believer. Resurrection comes right after the cross. Until we have been planted in the ground, we cannot multiply.
John 12:24-25 Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit. He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal. KJV

My hearts desire for women is that we would please God in all that we do. I want to accomplish what God created me to do. I want to study Scripture and learn all I can about God and about mankind. I want to know who I am supposed to be, what I am supposed to do and why I am supposed to do it. Then, I want to know how to do it to the best of my ability! I want to share everything I learn with you! Life is tough! It is a war (1 John 5:5 Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?). Our hardest war is overcoming our flesh. Dying to my will and allowing Gods will to become my will is the hardest war I face. Relationships are the next hardest war I facekeeping myself clean from sin and forgiving the sinner and the wrongs of others. Another war, that is hard work, would be the war of keeping my mind thinking like the mind of Christ. There is no way to accomplish these wars without putting on the armor of God (Eph. 6). In order to put on Gods armor, I must first put off the OLD MAN. Gods armor will not fit over the old man. I must put on the new man and then reach for Gods armor (Eph. 4:22-32). If I have put off the old man and put on the new man, I will have stopped lying to myself and others and I will tell the truth. I will no longer allow my anger to draw me into sin. I will not let the sun go down on my wrath. I will deal with my problems the day they arrive. I will not give place to the devil! I will not do that which God has plainly told me not to do. If I walk in disobedience, I give place to the devil. I will not take that which does not belong to me. I will labor for what I need, and I will be prepared to give to those in need. My mouth will only speak loving words that will edify (build up) those I minister too. I will walk in grace and truth like my Lord Jesus Christ walked! I will not grieve the Holy Spirit of God. When the Spirit moves upon my life I will hear and obey. I will not shut out the Spirit of God from my life. This is who I would be if I put on the new man. With this spirit and the armor of God, I can overcome anything that life throws at me. Our problem is, we are not prepared to face life because we have not been diligent to put off the man that was killing us. Many believers

Is your life stagnant and going nowhere? Do you feel alone? Do you keep walking up to your cross and then running away? Give up! Bow your knees. Lay your life at the cross and watch for your resurrection. It will come!!! I heard a preacher this week quote what God said after creating Adam. It is not good for man to be alone. (Gen. 2) Then he said, But man was not alone. God was with him. I had never thought about that. God is all man needs, but God made woman to meet mans needs and without her man was alone. Ladies, our place is very

Johnny and Nelda Flanagan Flanagan Music Ministries

Johnny and Nelda have suffered a house fire on 2/6/2014. They had just finished a morning meeting when they got the call that their house had burned to the ground. The pastor asked them if they wanted to leave and not finish the day. They said no, there is nothing to go home to, we will finish the day. Bro. Johnny has written many songs through the years, and they were all in the house. But God had already taken care of that. Their pastor, Bro. Patterson had asked to copy all his music just a short time before the fire. Nothing catches God off guard. Also, there was a family who had just lost a family member in death, and their house was completely furnished and ready for them to move into until their house could be rebuilt. Im sure there are many other things that God is doing for this couple because that is the kind of God that we serve. He takes good care of His children. In 2011 the Flanagans began their 40th year in full time evangelism. Johnny and Nelda were both saved in Lubbock, Texas and are sent out by the Central Baptist Church of Whitesboro, Texas. Their prayer is to Go until They are Gone. As a song writer, the Lord has given Johnny almost six hundred gospel songs, including, Whats Wrong with the Old Black Book, One More Night with the Frogs, and Ill Prove It at the Top of the Hill. Their NEW Album entitled No, Im Not Finished Yet has now been released and is available online. Johnnys songs are unique with a touch of humor, bringing a biblical principal. Their life verse is Romans 12:1-2. Gloria and I have known the Flanagans for many years, and they are true to the Word of God. If you would like to help in their time of need, just send your gift to Tid Bits of Wisdom (address on back of paper) or go to the website, Flanagan Music. We will give you a tax free receipt, and see that they receive your gift.

TID BITS MONTHLY REPORT

We are almost through one third of the year and it seams like it just began. It has been a long winter for us. We bought a travel trailer and placed it in the back of our house to house a woman and her two sons. We have fought to keep water from freezing and electricity from going off! We have a lot to learn about travel trailers! But its been worth it, because in helping with this familys needs, God has in return helped us by causing them to desire to help us. Sometimes we give and give and no one turns around to say thank you, but this family is not that way. They are very grateful for our help and in turn the sons help me with the hard work and the woman helps Gloria with the house work. Because of our health, we have not had the strength to do all that it takes to run a farm. They have been a great help. This month we have had a couple of unexpected gifts for Tid Bits of Wisdom. We do so appreciate your sharing your lives with our work. If it wasnt for the unexpected gifts, we would not be able to reach out as far as we do. Our mail cost has increased to double what it was two years ago and we have not worked at extending the mailing list. We would love to promote the paper, but we must wait until we have more faithful supporters. We have a small group that have supported this work from the very first month, which is over seven years ago. Thank you for staying by the stuff!!! One of our readers (letter below) mentioned she had saved every paper from the first month till now. We are planning to attempt to put a book together with all the papers in one hard back cover. We would like to know if there would be any interest in this. If so, please call are write and let us know. We would like to hear from you. Letters: I have been working two jobs and wanted to help you out. You both have a great ministry and I love reading the newsletter you send me. We are very busy. Spring is finally arriving. Thanks again for all you have done for our son. So thankful you both are in his life. Sherri M. S.C.; I love Tid Bits of Wisdom and cant wait to get it each month. I dont remember what paper it was in, but someone wrote when they got through with their paper they passed it on to the Doctors office and different places. That convicted me so much, because I have been saving my papers since you started. I had all seven years and would go back and read them over. I was being selfish and didnt want to get rid of them. Our members go to the jail on Tuesday nights and teach. They have had several men and women saved. I gave the papers to them and they are going to give them to the women to read. They are suppose to attend church, then write what the preachers sermon was about, so she said they could read Tid Bits and do the same. Pray for the ladies because they are on dope and other things. I am not able to visit, so by sending the papers I feel I am able to do something for the Lord. Pray for me that I will share and not be stingy with my papers. Love Bobbie M. Ten.; God bless you and your ministry. Bob & Pam R. Mo.

important to man. Without woman in his life he is alone. Just like we were created to need God in our lives to fill that empty place that only God can fill, in the flesh the male needs woman to fill the empty place in his life. Yet, many couples live their lives independent of one another and find themselves all alone, although married! Many Christians believe in God and make a profession of faith, and yet live their lives independent of God. They find themselves alone, even though they believe in God! Why do we live in loneliness, when we could have that warm oneness with one another? I could never understand how someone could say they believe in God, and yet they never seek to know Him. Likewise, I could never understand couples spending many years together and yet never coming together in heart as one. To become one with God we must submit to not my will but thine be done. To become one in marriage, the woman must submit to do the will of the father as head of the home. Running from these two things robs us from fruitfulness, from restfulness and from peacefulness. Many think they can survive without bending the knee. They say, I may not be obeying Gods way but I still have eternal life. I can still go to Heaven. They say about their marriage, I may not be obeying Gods Word but I still am married. Yes, if you believe, you will be saved. If you vowed in marriage, you will still be married, but you will never know abundant living, and thats what Christ came to give you. Lets go for the best of life and the best of marriage. WHY settle for less? Thanks for listening to my heart.

THE GOSPEL SONG LEADER

(Written in 1922)
First - The gospel song leader must be a consecrated Christian with a vital Christian experience, and a Divine Call. This one thing I do. Second - He must be original. No leader will become successful through mere imitation of another; and in order to become proficient, he must be at least reasonably well educated in literature and the theory and practice of rudimentary music. Third - He must be a good drill master, and be able to command the attention of his choir and congregation. Therein lies the secret of greatness of my friend Homer Rodeheaver. He can handle his crowd with ease and dignity; and to Rodeheaver belongs the distinction of having directed the largest sacred choruses of all times. Fourth - Brother Singer, you should use the best song book obtainable, free from rag-time jingles and jazz, and be well acquainted with your book. Above all, you should have a gospel message, and magnify Jesus and not yourself. Talking too much has been the cause of many a song leaders downfall. The attempt to be funny, to resort to flippant remarks, light jokes; to joke about this one or that one being married, or handsome or superior, is irreverent, and churchless. To say each choir you lead is the best one you have conducted is not truthful. By all means let us be honest and sincere. To browbeat the people into singing at furious tempo the old hymns they have been accustomed to sing is next to sacrilege; and screaming at your congregation as you would at a drove of oxen or trying to imitate a windmill, or a monkey in a thousand feet of grapevine is to make yourself obnoxious to decent folks. A timid song leader cannot sing successfully. He must have some life and pep, do it with grace and ease. His motions should be strict, decisive, and have a meaning that the choir may understand his every wish. Do not preach a sermon after every stanza. Remember, song leader, the canary does only what he was made for - singing is his job. The country is full of failures who might have been a success if they had not talked too much. Song leader, do not be too familiar. Remember the old adage Familiarity breeds contempt. The shoulders of a choir leader are broad, but not upon them at all times rests the halo of sympathy. Do not expect too much of your congregation, always be kind and courteous. Do not become impatient. Inspire your crowd to their best and help to lead the hosts on to victory. You will find many things to encounter in the evangelistic field. For instance, you will find in most towns a member who has been raised in the town, who has occupied a seat in the choir ever since it was organized. Her or his name is Miss Know It All or Brother Kick. They know just how it ought to be done, and sometimes they will take the lead and run away with your choir. If you want to get rid of Miss Know It All I suggest you have her kid-napped, or scatter pepper under her nose, and to Brother Kick you might try mustard gas.

Singing is a wonderful help in revival, and it has its place. It arrests and controls the thought of the congregation. It cheers those, whose hearts are heavy with sorrow, care and trouble, and paves the way for the evangelist to bring a message with power and freedom. A good voice has spoiled many a good singer, for the work of the Master. If the Lord has given you a good voice, thank Him for it, but forget it when you stand to sing his praise. I make no claim to perfect leadership, but God has permitted me to get training under some of the best directors of the land, and I trust this article may help some of our younger song leaders to become more efficient in the Masters work. Yours in His Service, C. P. Gossett, Evangelistic Song Leader, Wilmore
