Times Week in Review:

Learn. Lead. Serve. Succeed!
2/6/12 2/10/12

The class of 2028 learned the short vowel sounds for a and e, how to write uppercase and lowercase a and e, how to make connections to a text, and how to with numbers through ten and discuss more and fewer. Next week, we will learn the short vowel sounds for i (as in the word "it") and o (as in the word "odd"), and we will begin working with numbers through 20! Here are some ways to reinforce the skills we are working on: practice the wall cards every night, count to 100 with your scholar by 1s and by 10s, and read at least 3 books from the book baggy each night.

Class of 2028 (Kindergarten)

Music

The Class of 2027 began a new math unit on graphs. Scholars can now read data presented in a picture graph and create their own graphs. In Literacy, we focused on relationships between characters in our books. In Science, scholars started growing their own seeds at school. Additionally, scholars conducted experiments to learn more about stems and leaves. Next week, we will be conducting experiments on the roots of a plant.

Class of 2027 (First Grade)

This week in music, every grade has performed bass lines on the xylophone. The bass line is the foundation of the song. For Town Hall we will perform Bob Marley's Don't Worry About a Thing.

Class of 2026 (Second Grade)

The Class of 2026 is continuing to become experts in frogs. This week our focus is physical features. Scholars have learned about the form and function of a frogs physical features including their eyes, legs, feet, tympanum, skin, teeth, and tongue. Scholars are learning to think like scientists by making observations and inferences about the frogs and their survival.

In literacy, scholars are learning about character traits. They are working hard to understand the difference between physical traits, character traits, and emotions. This weekend, as you read with your scholar, ask him or her about the characters traits (what the character is like as a person).

The infested person should put on clean clothing after treatment. These clothes should have been washed in hot water. 4. Soak combs and brushes in alcohol or Lysol for one hour, then place in the freezer for two days. 6.
