But I believe that most of the stories that leaders tell are created in response to the pervasive human need
to understand better oneself, the groups that exist in and beyond ones culture, and issues of value and
meaning. Indeed, stories in the broadest sense narratives, visions, dreams, embodiments are most
effective when they provide at the same time nourishment for the mind (or the understanding), on the one
