Community Garden Steering

Meeting

Miriam Silva, Jane Baker, Ines Margato, Anna, Betina Winkler

Apologies: Jackie Brodie, Gemma Carlin, Mark Wallace

After that discuss the results. Is it worth while to continue? Are we

Everyone
achieving our goal?

Not a priority at the moment, because of school holidays.

The forest garden DVD and the visit, will help provide us with a clearer idea.

1. DVD : Publicity - Mark did a poster. Maria will make some small size leaflets to go with it. Poster will be put at
N.A. library. Teignmouth Library, Market, Ogwell and few other places.
Operational issues - have been previously addressed: Jane will bring projector, Jackie will bring white screen and
laptop.

2. Visit will be arranged for 11th September (Friday) 18-20h.

Conclusions: 1. Discuss the division of work in a later on meeting, as the need arises. 2. After the
permaculture course define a plan of seasonal activities that could be used to engage
volunteers.

Simon is arranging the dates. The provisional dates are 16th August Sunday at the garden plus two evenings before
that for the theory at the Jolly Abbot.

A rough planning of the location of the different areas wanted for the garden has already taken place in the previous
meeting. A more detailed planning will only take place after the permaculture course and possibly after the visit to
the forest garden.

It looks really nice. We should all publicize it and contribute to it.

We need to know from Jackie if the money would be available for training a person (200£).
The group agrees that this would be a good use of money. We must remember we also have committed to spend
some money in buying tree seeds from Martin Crawford for our forest garden.

Betina shared with us some of their plans and activities for the next months:
- Butterflies and Birds surveys;
- Application for funding from Co-Op (for materials and tools) to build a pond already sent. Other possible
institutions in view if Co-op turns down the proposal.
- Visit to a Wild-Life garden in Exmouth in October.

NEXT MEETING – 20TH AUGUST 7:30 AT THE COMMUNITY GARDEN (IF RAINING AT THE JOLLY ABBOT)
NEXT OPEN DAY – 12th SEPTEMBER
