Curriculum Plan

Topic/Title of Lesson: Measuring Cups Focused Domain: Cognitive

Goal: Help children understand if something is full, empty or half full.
Objective: Children will pour water into cups in order to fill them all the way,
half way or keep them empty.
Procedure: At the water table in a small group the teacher will demonstrate
Pouring water into a cup to fill the cup completely, then explain to the
children the cup is full. The children will then be asked to fill their cups
all the way making them full. The teacher will repeat this procedure with
half a cup and an empty cup.
Advanced Preparation: Fill water table with water, get 12 plastic cups.
List Materials: water table/water/12 plastic cups
Developmental Benefits: Physical-fine motor/social/language
Future Plans: Simplify by using full and empty.
Challenge by using other materials beside water. Example-sand
