Curriculum Plan

Topic/Title of Lesson: Not all liquids mix Focused Domain: Cognitive
Goal: Children will learn that not all liquids can mix together.
Objective: Children will mix two different liquids and observe how they
separate.
Procedure: Children will fill a water bottle half way with water, then fill the
rest of the bottle with oil. They will twist the cap on the bottle and shake
the bottle up. The children will set the bottle on the table and watch what
happens between the two liquids.
Advanced Preparation: Gather 12 empty water bottles, purchase oil.
List Materials: 12 empty water bottles/oil/water
Developmental Benefits: Language/creativity/social
Future Plans: Simplify by having water already in bottles.
Challenge by mixing other liquids to replace water.
