Math Students have started to learn about fractions.

Today
we learned how to compare fractions. Monday we will continue to work with fractions by putting fractions in simplest form
and we will practice how to find the GCF (Greatest Common
Factor)
Reading We will be finishing up our novel The Last Holiday
Concert. They are being graded on participation, the packet
they must turn in at the end of the novel, and we will have a
test next week over the novel and vocabulary.
GrammarOur class has been studying adverbs this week.
Next we will be identifying prepositions.
Writing The students have been writing some winter poetry and the class will be writing letters to people who live in a
nursing home. They are very excited to be trying to brighten
the lives of someone. Next week, they will also be writing persuasive letters to you. They will be hoping to persuade you to
buy them the present of their dreams. Sorry!
Spelling Spelling Test this week is focused on prefixes.
Study!!
Social Studies We will be taking a Social Studies test
next week over Chapter 5. Students will have a study guide
and I will give them the essay question ahead of time. These
are open note tests!
Science This week we began a new unit on the states of
matter. We are learning about the properties of solids, liquids,
and gases.

Note From the Teacher:

Our fifth grade is selling MudLove bracelets. Your student should have
brought home a pre-order sheet last week, along with a more detailed explanation.
This money will be used toward our Camp Amigo fieldtrip. They are only $6 and
would make great Christmas gifts!
We will be having our Christmas party in the morning of December 19th.
