Behavior Management Procedures

A. Beginning of class

a. Students will line up outside my door and wait to be greeted by me. I will use this
time to inform them of anything they should know before they enter the room.
b. Once the students have been seated, the classroom manager will pass out notebooks.
c. While the notebooks are being passed out the pencil sharpener will take their
requests.

B. Absentee Procedures

a. As part of keeping the chaos under control, I will have a Make Up folder that will
contains all of the assignments that absent students missed.
b. The name and class period of the absent student will be on the worksheet already. All
they need to do is take the paper(s) with their name and complete it for homework.
c. If they need to make up a test, there will be a slip of paper in the Make Up folder that
tells what the test was and when they can make it up.

C. Whole Class Activities

a. Students are to have the materials out on their desk.


b. If they are being provided with materials from me, they will distributed by the
classroom manager.
c. Should they talk or shout out during transitions, they will lose points from their
Behavior Card.
d. Students should adhere to the 5 Laws:
a. Follow directions quickly
b. Raise your hand for permission to speak
c. Raise your hand for permission to leave your seat
d. Make good choices
e. Keep you dear teacher happy
D. Small Group Activities

a. The students will be waiting outside the door for my instructions.


b. If there is no time to tell them outside the room, I will usher them and wait for them
to get quiet before I set the groups.
c. If they are allowed to choose their own groups or partners:
a. First they will find a partner or group
b. Move to that partner or group
c. Situate the desks if necessary
d. Abide by the 5 Laws

E. Class Period Procedures

a. Class will begin on time or when the bell rings.


b. Students will actively practice the 5 Laws during my lesson.
c. If a student requires a re-sharpened pencil, they are to follow Law 3 and request the
services of the pencil sharpener.
d. If the class is working on an assignment, I will be walking around to assist them if
necessary.
e. The students who finish the assignment early may help a neighbor with my approval.

F. Ending of Class Procedures

a. If the class assignment is to be taken up, the Paper Manager will go around and
collect them in an orderly fashion.
b. The Folder Manager will simultaneously go around and collect the classroom folders.
c. The students will gather their things and check around their desk for any trash they
may have dropped.
d. They may only be dismissed when they have my permission to do so. If there is an
announcement that is important, I will wait for the room to be silent again before I
start talking.

G. Hallway Procedures

Students will line up when their row is called (Row 1, 2, 3, 4, etc).


They will stand at the door until they are quiet.
The Hallway Monitor will stand next to me until it is time to leave.
The first student in line is to turn off the lights.
The Hallway Monitor will take names of all the students who talk in the hallway.
