First Grade St. Viator School

What We Are Learning in Room 202!

Reading Unit 6 has begun with a look at short and long vowels in words.
Students are learning about the symbol for short and long vowels. While
reading stories, we are concentrating on vocabulary, especially looking at
context clues for meaning.
Math We are finishing up Chapter 3. Students have done an amazing job
with viewing addition problems in very complex ways, with many steps.
Science- We wrapped up Chapter 3 of Science this week. Next week, we
will begin looking at how animals meet their needs.

Tuesday, November 25 is a
half day! Students will be
dismissed at 11:30a.m.
Homework

Our spelling homework has begun!

Students may complete all spelling
assignments in their spelling
notebooks. All spelling assignments
are due at the end of each week.
We will not have any spelling words
next week.

Dates to Remember
November 25- Half day for students. Report Card
Conferences in afternoon/evening.
November 26-28- Thanksgiving Break
December 5, 6, 7- Winterfest at St. Viator!
December 10- Pajama Drive ends

Thomas!
Thomas did a wonderful job this week!
He brought in a whole bag of awesome
books from his house. His dad read
several of them to the class! He also
showed us a hockey trophy, AND took
Frankie to Wisconsin for a hockey
tournament!
Next Week: We will be picking a student
for Frankie to spend Thanksgiving with!

Other Classroom News

Junior Achievement was a huge success in Room 202!

Students participated in lots of cool activities, learning
about money, businesses, and occupations!
Our field trip to the B.F.G. was wonderful! There were so
many cool aspects in the play, including lots of puppets and
scenery, and the actors did great encouraging student
participation.
Our Pajama Drive has begun! Please send in baby, children,
and adult pajamas for donation by December 10!
