First Grade St. Viator School

What We Are Learning in Room 202!

Reading Students are halfway through the first unit of More Adventures
of Superkids. We are practicing following written directions, as well as
analyzing texts to determine genre.
Math We have finished Chapter 5 and are now reviewing all of our
strategies for addition and subtraction. Students are looking at key words
and practicing representing numbers in a variety of ways.
Writing- In the second half of our Superkids curriculum, students will be
practicing many new types of writing. This week, we began to organize
writing to produce a How-To piece.
Religion- The Lenten season has begun at St. Viator. Students will
be studying the life of Jesus. We will be doing many Lenten activities,
including a journal and weekly prayer services.

Room 202 has the month of February to display their art

Homework

Students may complete all spelling

assignments in their spelling
notebooks. All spelling assignments
are due at the end of each week.
We will not have spelling words next
week.

Dates to Remember
February 27- Field Trip to the Museum of Science and
Industry

at the Starbucks on Irving Park Road. Students made

wonderful heart trees that look great! Be sure to check
them out!
Our field trip to the Museum of Science and Industry is on
Friday, February 27. All permission slips are due Friday,
February 20. Students should bring a lunch, including a
beverage. Please make sure all parts of the lunch are
disposable, so students dont have to carry anything around
the museum. We will be eating at the museum!
