minutes!
The Art Show is also scheduled for the night of Wednesday May 27.
A special PTA calendar raffle is taking place starting June 1. Please contact the office
for more details if you did not receive a flyer about it.
Spring Fling is tentatively scheduled for June 5 at Hippach Field.

Math: We will wrap up our unit on addition and subtraction through 200 and word problems
through 100 by reviewing the assessment. We will then start a mini unit that focuses on
money and problem solving. Students need to be able to name each coin and identify their
values. We will then learn about how to determine the value of a group of coins as well as a
group of bills. Money identification and counting is a great skill to practice at home!
Spelling: This will be the last week of spelling for the year! This weeks focus is on working
with more required second grade spelling words that may not follow a pattern. Some of the
words may have been on prior lists but still need to be reviewed. Please remind your child to
study for a test on Friday.
Reading: We will continue to complete the DRA reading tests this week. We are also
continuing to read a variety of fiction and non fiction texts.
Writing: We are working on reflections about books that weve read throughout the year. We
will also be completing several different self-assessments for portfolios.
Science: We continue to work on our final science unit of the year. Students are learning
about all types of Matter (solids, liquids, and gas) this week. Students will be using their
observation skills to look for changes in matter as we conduct a couple of experiments this
week.
Social Studies: Our final unit will be about life in the 1700s as well as a bit of local
Farmington history.
Vocabulary: There will not be any new vocabulary words introduced this week. We will
continue to review previously learned words.

The following homework assignments

are due by Friday May 29:!
!

Reading: Reading Log - 20 min. of

reading per day. !
!

Math: Subtraction Fact practice across

10. !
Example: 13 - 7!
A great way to solve this is to think 13-3 gets me to 10
and then subtract 4 more and Ill end up on 6.
