Ms. Scahills 1 st Grade News!

This week in 202!
This week, we began Unit 6 of Superkids. Students have started to explore short and long vowel sounds. There are several new books to read on the Parent Portal! We wrapped up our Science chapter on types of animals. Next up: food chains! In math, we began trying out different subtraction strategies and discussing why some work better than others.

Student of the Week

Julian did a great job with all of his Student of the Week activities. He even took Frankie bowling! We will be taking a few weeks off, but will pick a new Student of the Week after Thanksgiving!

Next Week in 202!

Students will have a super short, but fun and action-packed week! We will be doing several Thanksgiving reading and writing activities, as well as discussing how we can show we are thankful to one another at this time of year (as well as the rest of the year!). There will not be spelling or homework next week.

Conferences will be Tuesday, November 26! I look forward to meeting with you!

There is a half day next Tuesday, November 26. Students will be dismissed at 11:30am. Have a wonderful holiday with your families! I am thankful for all of YOU and your amazing kids!
