Carelink Contacts Maumelle Civitan About Wheelchair Build

see what response she would
receive.
Her patient, a 91-year-old
woman suffering from dementia, lives with her grown
son and daughter. Their
home in Maumelle was in
dire need of a ramp to make
trips to the car easier to navigate.
Maumelle Civitan sprang
into action, procuring supplies, measurements, and
tools for the build.
Support member Dan Dick
and his wife, Tena, Civitan
Secretary, visited the home,
The Maumelle Monitor featured a
full page about Civitans recent
wheelchair build and installation
banquet.

Rhonda Moore, a local care

coordinator for Carelink recently emailed Civitan to inquire about the possibility of
our club building a wheelchair
ramp for a local Maumelle
resident.
She had found Maumelle
Civitan on Facebook and
thought shed contact us and

not only to measure the entry and walkways but to talk

to the son and daughter to
find out their needs.
After drawing up a plan,
Dan pre-cut the lumber in his
garage , loaded his truck and
set off with Tena and 13-year
-old stepson, Reese Bolin to
the home located off North
Odom.
The build was completed
on August 27, in about three
hours. The family tested the
ramp with their mothers
wheelchair and were pleased
with it and happy to know
that they could safely maneuver their mother to the
car for her upcoming doctors appointments.
They said they also look
forward to wheeling their
mom around the neighborhood in the cool autumn
weather.
Many thanks to the local
Fuller & Sons Hardware on
Maumelle Boulevard for
their help with the lumber
and materials.
