To Whom It May Concern:
One of the rewards of being a college coach and mentor is that I get the opportunity to work
closely with exceptionally talented and gifted young adults. Sarah Brock is a current member of
the Shenandoah University Womens Field Hockey Team and I had the privilege of coaching her
the past four years. I am honored to write a recommendation on her behalf.
Sarah is a hard-working individual who never gives less than her best at everything she does. On
the playing field, where I have worked with Sarah the most, she leads by example with her
strong play and determination. A consummate team player, Sarah can be counted on to encourage
teammates through a hard practice and demands the best from herself and her teammates. By
virtue of her exemplary work ethic and leadership abilities, Sarah is a leader on the team and is
often the person her teammates go to for advice and encouragement. Always positive and
encouraging, Sarah consistently earns the respect of her teammates and the coaching staff
through her team-first attitude.
Not only is Sarah an exceptional athlete on the field hockey team, she has also devoted many
hours towards community service. Sarahs presence on the Shenandoah University campus has
been notable in her energy, enthusiasm and dedication to her team, her studies and the university.
Sarah was a two-year captain who led her team to the best finish in program history last fall and
it on pace to exceed that this year. She is a very strong student, has exceptional leadership skills,
and is very motivated in achieving excellence in everything she does. If I can offer any further
insight or information about Sarah, please do not hesitate to contact me at the email or phone
number below.
Sincerely,
Ashley Smeltzer-Kraft
