Activity: (MILF 1.2): Back to school presentation: Communicates
Vision to Parents
Time: 6 hours
Artifact: Power point slides conducted on Back to School Night for parents
and students starting the 6th grade
Description: The Boonsboro Guidance Department, along with school
faculty developed a presentation for the 5th grade students entering 6th
grade. This presentation detailed how the school operates, general
information, fun activities, student helpers and middle school requirements.
All students receive a Boonsboro Middle School t-shirt and information
packet.
Reflection: I spent about 3 preparing the presentation and making
information packets. I spent 2 hours giving the presentation and talking to
parents. I spent another hour answering questions, showing parents and
students around the school and talking about the magnet program. This is a
fun event for students and we also pair them up with student helpers so that
they dont get lost and can ask questions they may feel uncomfortable
talking to an adult about. Overall, this is a lot of work for all the faculty but
well worth the effort.
