Rules for 'Silence Denied'

Date: 28th August 2010


Venue: Open Air Theatre, Bal Bhavan, Sector 23, Chandigarh.
Timings: 3.30PM onwards

Shortlisting for the Prelims:


1. Each band is required to send in their performance material via email to
“silencedenied@gmail.com” before 21st August 2010.
2. The performance material can be recorded sound files, recorded videos, profile pages, or any
other material that is relevant enough to give us a criterion to judge the band.

General Terms and Conditions:


1. All participating bands should be bona fide college students.
2. Bands shortlisted for the prelims would be announced on 22nd August 2010, the registration
fee has to be submitted before 25th August 2010, failing which shall lead to disqualification
from the prelims.
3. Band members are required to carry ID cards compulsorily at the time of the event.
4. A band may also comprise of students from other colleges.
5. A minimum of 3 and a maximum of 10 members are allowed per band.
6. Minus one tracks are not permitted.
7. A Common Drum Kit will be provided for all bands. Bands need to bring their own
instruments.
8. Damage to the gear or equipment during performance on stage will have to be borne by the
band.
9. Abusive language or behavior on stage will lead to disqualification and will be dealt with
severely.
10. Twelve bands would be shortlisted to appear for the prelims, on the conditions that they
register for the prelims.
11. A registration fee of Rs. 300 would be charged from the shortlisted bands.
12. Each band gets a slot of 10 minutes - including setup, sound-check and dismantling - for the
prelims.
13. Four bands would be shortlisted for the finals based on their performance in the prelims.
14. Each band gets a slot of 20 minutes - including setup, sound-check and dismantling - for the
finals.
15. Bands exceeding the time limit will get negative markings.
16. In each round - prelims and finals - at least one of the songs must be an original and others
can be cover versions.
17. The jury holds the right to modify any rule at any point of time during the event.
