Job Satisfaction
Job satisfaction describes how content
an individual is with his or her job.
Influences on satisfaction include the culture,
employee involvement, empowerment,
relationship with co-workers, pay and
autonomous work groups.

Duties of a manager
Managing a team with people from different
backgrounds, tastes and likes.
Managing a budget for the people assigned to
them.
Try to satisfy the demands/needs of their
employees.
Have to try and minimize attrition due to
unsatisfied employees.

Managers can raise employer satisfaction
by
1) Chalking out challenging work to employees
with different caliber.
2) Pay the deserving employees handsomely.

Satyam is of the opinion that “It is very
important for a manager to ensure that his staff
has job satisfaction as that reflects on the
deliverables either directly or indirectly.”
Ways of addressing job satisfaction :
1) Taking priority of employee’s interests and
placing them where they are more inclined
to(place or project or role)
2) Implementing a competitive reward system

Mr “X" was placed into a project using different
technologies not known to him. Though he has quite
enthusiastic to give his best at work, he could not
deliver his best. He was little shy to disclose the same
to me as he felt , he is supposed to grasp it and
deliver. Being a manager, it is my responsibility to
observe Xs and lend them a helping hand to resolve
their issues in the work front. So, I proposed some
training sessions to him and after that he performed
exceedingly well and was eager to take up new tasks.
He was satisfied with the work and his productivity
increased.

Increased job satisfaction in the
employees leads to
- lower attrition rate
- lower absenteeism
- higher customer delight quotient
- relatively high productivity

So, it is pertinent for the manager to
ensure that the employees remain fairly
satisfied.
But,
- is it possible for the manager to make
everybody satisfied ?

Conclusion
Manager has to deftly deal with the
requests/demands of the employees.
