T heme: The first week of school will be a very exciting week full of fun and learning. We will be getting to know each other, learning classroom and school routines and procedures, and we will be learning life skills. We will also discuss different colors, and will begin to recognize color words. Please review color words with your child at home as we work with them at school. We will also begin our review of shapes. As we introduce our students to different colors, we would like for our students to wear something to match the color of the day beginning next Monday, August 22nd. On Monday, please have your child wear something red. Sight Words:
Attached you will find a list of all of the sight words that your child will learn and be expected to know by the end of kindergarten. Please do not let this list overwhelm you or your child. These will be taught a few at a time (3 4 each week). We just wanted you to have an idea about some of what we will be learning this year!

Upcoming Events
A fternoon T ransportation If you ever decide that your child will ride the bus home from school, you will need to contact the office first, in order to reserve a seat for your child. You would also send a note to us stating that your child will begin riding the bus, but you must have bus transportation approved in advance. C lipboards and Folders: Please remember tocheckyourchildsclipboardandfolder every night for important information. Also, please remove all papers except the behavior log each night. Thanks for your help with this.

A ttendance: Please remember that our school day begins at 7:30. If your child arrives after 7:40, you will need to walk him/her into the office and sign them in.

Homewor k :

Your child will not have homework to turn in this week. Please use this time to help your child memorize his/her lunch number. Some of our students have already memorized their numbers, and we would LOVE to have all of our students putting in their own numbers beginning next week!! You should have received a paper keypad at Meet the Teacher that your child can use to practice with. I enjoyed talking with each of you at Meet the Teacher.
