Well miss ya, buddy... but first theres work to be done!

Its Jonny Koessls final season in a Glasgow Reds uniform,

and Friday night marked his final home game appearance on
Bill Connors Field at Sullivan Park. The team pitched in on the
purchase of a Rawlins bat and they all signed it. It will surely
last longer than the Snicker Bars and balloons. Following the
ceremony, Jonny and the Reds put it to the Richland County

Patriots for the second time of the evening (17-6, 14-4). On

Saturday the Reds traveled to Sidney with similar results,
winning 11-3 and 14-3. Glasgow will now be in Sidney for
the Eastern A District Tournament. The Reds are tops in
conference standings at 25-3 and 50-6 overall. They open
with Miles City (3-25 in conference) at 10:00 on Wednesday.

Valley County Transit has been awarded federal

funds to purchase dispatching software. That is a huge
step toward giving you, our customers, better service.
The dispatching staff just went through a week of
intensive training and is ready to begin using the new
system on Tuesday, July 29th.
There are many positive aspects to this new
system, but that means there is the needed information
gathering that must be accomplished first. So when
you call for a ride, we will be asking every customer/
rider for their name, address, phone number,
birthdate, whether they need the wheelchair lift and
their emergency contact information. This will be a
one time entry of information.

Most importantly when you need a ride, you must
call as much in advance as possible, give us your name,
pickup location and dropoff location and if you have
an appointment. Since this new system will be using
GPS, and will have all passenger information, it can
determine which vehicle will best serve your needs
and which route the driver will take. This will cut
down on wait time and the time you will be on the bus.
As before, when we are given a pickup time, you
can expect the bus to arrive up to 10 minutes before
or 10 minutes after this time. Please make sure you
are ready and waiting as we will only wait for 1 minute
prior to departing for the next stop.
A few other changes will be implemented: once
you have boarded the bus, you will not be able to
change your destination; we will not be able to wait
while you are transacting business; you must have the
correct fare when boarding (i.e. no charging); every
person who will be boarding the bus must have a
reservation.
The staff at Valley County Transit would like to
thank you in advance for helping make this a smooth
transition for everyone.

(If you have any questions, call Colleen Pankratz
at 228-8744.)

Smoke nearly obscures grazing cattle on a hillside in the background of this pronghorn
antelope west of Glasgow on Saturday. According to the Glasgow Weather Service of
Glasgow, we may start to see some relief from the smoke in the next few days. The current
winds at the mid levels of the atmosphere are from the west bringing the WashingtonOregon-Idaho smoke into the state. That mid-level wind will start transitioning to a more
southwest flow as a deep upper level low moves into the Pacific Northwest. It means the
smoke will be pushed more into western Montana and Canada, but even better, it may also
bring cooler weather and some much needed moisture to the fire source regions in the
Pacific Northwest. As of this morning, the thickest smoke was from Malta south to Billings
and eastward into North Dakota. Sidney was showing unhealthy conditions this morning at
the MT DEQ air monitoring station. Below is the sun shortly before seven oclock on Friday
night: pale orange-pink surrounded by charcoal gray.

kept the kids busy well into the afternoon. Coach Mike
