Objectives:
1. to engage and activate all students in speaking spontaneously and fluently about
something, using Past Tense
2. ppractice and reinforce Past Tense Simple of regular and irregular verbs
3. practice listening comprehension
Didactic strategies:
Recent work: students have been studying all tenses of the Indicative Mood, but they need
to be reinforced and tested before going further on

• T asks the SS about their week end programme, What did you do yesterday?
• SS answer using past tense verbs

Objective 2: practice and reinforce Past Tense Simple of regular and irregular verbs
ACTIVITY 1
• T introduces the topic and tells the SS that they are going to review and be tested on
Past Tense Simple
• SS are given the following task: Find the past tense of the following verbs: BLOW,
BRING, BUY, BEGIN, HAVE, CATCH, FORGET, THROW, WIN, WRITE, READ, HIDE,
GET, COST, RIDE, DRINK, EAT, THINK, DRIVE, KNOW, SINK, SING, RING, MAKE, DO,
GO, TELL, SELL, SAY, DRAW, LIE, SIT, FLY, GROW, PUT, BEAR, SEND
• SS take turns in completing the task
• T checks orally the SS’s answers
Objective 2: ppractice and reinforce Past Tense Simple of regular and irregular verbs
ACTIVITY 1
• T writes the title of the lesson on the blackboard
• SS write the title of the lesson on their notebooks
• T gives a copy of the worksheet to each student.
• SS work individually and write their answers in the circles.
• T makes sure they write their answers in random order, and encourages them to
answer all the questions if possible. They should write names, single words or short
phrases, not complete sentences.
• SS will orally answer in turns and give their examples

• T plays the Beatles song “Yesterday” SS,in pairs, have to fill in the missing verbs from
the lyrics
Objective 1: to engage and activate all students in speaking spontaneously and fluently

ACTIVITY 1
• T divides the class in two groups and gives each group the same set of 10 flashcards
with Present Tense verbs.
• SS have to turn the verbs to Past Tense when T asks: eg. “What did Bob do
yesterday?, group 1or 2 turns the Present Tense verb to Past and answers:Bob
played tennis yesterday.” etc
• T starts the review of the subject of the day, highlighting again the main points
• T praises the SS’s effort and appreciates their work by grading them
