Masters Class
Recently Paste Plant 1 experienced a failure to one of their supply transformers.
When the Substation team heard that the Paste Plants were suffering from issues that impacted on production, a
decision was made to fast track the replacement of the transformer.
With a new transformer still needing work to adapt to the location, the team decided that the best option would be
to utilise an existing transformer which would be a direct replacement and needed no modification.
The team wasted no time once the decision was made and clearance given to use the transformerthe standby
unit at the AT Substation near the Apprentice Training Workshop. Wayne Masters took a lead role and the unit
was disconnected and installed at the Substation over a two shift period.
While the transformer was not required to be used for any of the immediate issues within the Paste Plant, it did
give the area a back-up option should a new issue arise.
It was a great example of Blue Bus thinking and our Trades stepping up and taking control of the situation.
Thank you to all those involved including Downer, Boom, Johan Kruger & labourers and Mal Muddle.
Special mention goes to the Substation team and Wayne Masters who looked after almost every aspect of the re-
moval and installation. Story submitted by: Scott Badman
