I am writing to express my interest in the nurse residency program at Penn State Health
Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. I will be graduating in May with my B.S.N. from
Shenandoah University. While I would ideally like to work with trauma patients, I would
strongly consider any of your nurse residency programs that are available.

I have read your mission statement and values and I feel as though your facility would be
a good fit for me. The magnet status that was awarded to your facility is impressive. It is
the gold standard of nursing excellence. Likewise, I feel it would be an honor to be given
an opportunity of employment at this institution.

As indicated in my enclosed resume, I was able to work alongside a float pool nurse at
Winchester Medical Center for five months. This experience helped me to further
develop and reinforce my nursing skills and clinical judgment. It also assisted me in
developing a broader base of clinical knowledge.

In addition to nursing skills and clinical judgment, I will bring to my next employer
strong leadership and organizational skills gained through various clinical and life
experiences. I feel that my undergraduate experience has taught me valuable time
management skills as well as a sense of commitment and love for the nursing profession.
