NEWS FROM 3A

WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 11 , 2017


This week we will be administering the IOWA Test of Basic Skills.
Students may bring snacks, however, they will not be allowed to eat while
taking the test. Please send drinks that can be closed when not in use. No homework
will be assigned this week. Please make sure students get a good nights sleep, eat a
well-balanced breakfast and most importantly, that they arrive on time this week!

HANDWRITING
Students will learn the correct slant, size and shape of cursive letters

SCIENCE-This week students will do a phases of the moon activity, fill
out the study guide and take the assessment for the first part of their
Astronomy booklet.
RELIGION-This week students will learn about the second coming and
the final judgment. This weeks Word of the Week is compassion-having
concern for the sufferings or misfortunes of others. This Weeks Good
News comes from Matthew 18:21-35: Moved with compassion the

SOCIAL STUDIES-Students will compare and contrast a community
through time. How different is the community than it was in the past?
What are some things that are similar? They will also learn about varia-
tions in physical environment and human characteristics of regions.

REMINDERS
Get your volunteer hours by signing up to help at the upcoming Fall Festival. Virtus training
will be provided prior to the festival so that you will be eligible to volunteer at all school
events.
Join us for Family Movie Night on Friday, September 22 from 6-9. Moana will be screened and
concessions will be sold.
Please fill out the photo release form so that should your child be selected as Student of the
Week, we can post their photo on our class Facebook page.

Irish Gala
Remember that you will be required to sell tickets to the Irish Gala. Tickets are $50 per per-
son. If you have one student enrolled, you are required to sell $100 in tickets. For two or
more students, you are required to sell $200 in tickets. Also, dont forget to send in donations
for our baskets: Movie Night and Family Game Night. We can be creative with these items. If
you know of anyone who would like to be a sponsor, I will be including that information in an
e-mail attachment.
