It is a pleasure to write this letter on behalf of Samantha Scorzo. Samantha completed her 
student teaching in my classroom during the 2017-2018 school year at North Farmington High 
School. Samantha taught Honors English 9 and Regular English 9 classes during her tenure as a 
student teacher, as well as assisting in two separate journalism classes.  
 
North Farmington is a diverse school and Samantha demonstrated a proficiency in planning 
lessons that were multifaceted, giving all students an ability to excel. Samantha used 
appropriate technology and methodology in her lessons to balance the needs of all the socio 
economic, cultural, and developmental needs of the students in the classroom.  
 
Samantha’s rapport with the students was apparent on day one. She is able to connect with the 
students on their level, creating a comfort both inside and outside the classroom. The students 
immediately felt just as comfortable talking to her about the next assessment as they did 
discussing their lives outside the classroom. I witnessed Samantha’s flexibility with students who 
needed it, while maintaining high expectations overall. Samantha’s ability to connect with the 
students is an essential trait for a successful teacher.  
 
Samantha was able to communicate effectively and displayed many fine personal and 
professional qualities during her student teaching. At the beginning of her experience Samantha 
used most of my material and by the halfway point of her experience she began to move away 
from my materials and use them more as a suggestion, opting to create her own assignments 
and assessments. Her ability to use curriculum effectively and communicate it to students is a 
trait that Samantha walked into the classroom with and definitely an area in which she excels.   
 
I would be happy to recommend Samantha to any teaching position as I am certain that she will 
exceed all expectations of the school, parent community, and student body.
