2. A simply supported beam of span 2.5 m is subjected to a uniformly distributed load and a
clockwise couple as shown in figure. Draw the S.F. and B.M. diagram and find point of
contraflexure. [10]

3. A rectangular beam 300 mm deep is simply supported over a span of 6 metres. What
uniformly distributed load the beam may carry, if the bending stress is not to exceed 120
MPa. Take I = 225*106 mm4. [10]
