3rd Grade Lesson Plan 3.

1. Goal: To practice so, mi, la, do; prep re; practice ta, ti ti and quarter rest; prep half note

2. Objectives: SWBAT
 ID beat vs. rhythm
 ID/read/perform ta, ti ti, and quarter rest in songs and patterns
 ID notes as being high or low
 ID a song by its rhythm

3. Materials: triangle; winter compositions; rhythm instruments

4. Procedure

1. Hello’s (smd)

2. Deta Deta
 Echo with beat
 Echo with rhythm tappers – pay attention to quarter rests!
 T. plays quarter rests with triangle, and no one sings!
 T. sings harmony part and students echo phrases
 Try together? T. sings harmony and students do song?

3. Let Us Chase the Squirrel


 T. sings and asks questions about the words
 Echo phrases with beat
 Sing whole song!

4. Winter Rhythm Compositions


 Review rhythms that we know (ta, ti ti, quarter rest)
 Students will partner up and will create a rhythm pattern using
those rhythms
 Students will add words to the rhythms that relate to winter!
 If time, practice the rhythms with a rhythm instrument
o Perform next week!
