What do you think is the major contribution of the Philippine architecture specifically in
10 minutes Luzon highlands and Lowlands?
4.4 Abstraction
Christianity was the major influince of Spain in Philippine architecture.Most of the churces
built were of Baroque sytle.Paoay Church in Paoay, Ilocos Norte, was completed in
1710,and is famous for its distinct architecture highlighted by the enermous buttresses on
the sides an d back of the building.The church was designated as a UNESCO Word
Heritage Site in 1993,as one best example of the Baroque churches of the Philippines.
Aside from Baroque, the church facade also exudes Javanese architecture reminiscent of
Borobudor of Java.The Bahay na bato, the colonial Filipino house, followed the nipa hut's
10 minutes arrangements such as open ventilation and elevated apartments. The most obvious
diference between the two houses would be the materials that were used to build. them. It
was constructed out of bricks and stones rather than the traditional bamboo materials.It is
a mixture of native Filipino, Spanish and Chinese influences. Question : What are the
elements from traditions/history of the community artwork?
