The Erets
We hope the land ("erets" is a Hebrew word for land) to be used in a sound, beautiful way according to the purpose of the
Creator, and want to be a good steward for this. The Erets is a "Vi.a" (Visionary Architects Group) which dreams to bring
about "the innovation of architectural culture" by restoring trust between the client and the architects and constructors.
"Here comes that dreamer!" they said to each other (Genesis 37:19)
I believe "the innovation of architectural culture" should start from a small-scale work. I dream of the trust restoration in
the industry through changes in the relations surrounding an architect and in the awareness of engineers as well as
through the restored honesty, and want to create an architectural story full of shalom.
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, Because he anointed me to preach good tidings to the poor; He hath sent me to
proclaim release to the captives, And recovering of sight to the blind, To set at liberty them that are bruised, To proclaim
the acceptable year of the Lord.(Luke 4:18-19)
Architecture is a team work. It deals with extensive subjects and entails tough decision making. Sometimes you have to
leave many things behind and can't afford to do all things right. However, we cherish our first mind and the process. We
hope to further develop our expertise as architects and share the joy of the architectural process with those who are
with us.

평택에 있는 대지는 큰 도로와 접하고 있지만, 언덕 형태의 구릉이 밀려 내려와 있는 형태이다. 건축계획은 땅의

Though the site in Pyeongtaek abuts on the big street, it is at the edge of a downward hill. The construction plan started
with adjusting land levels and deciding on how to enter and exit the building. A long study was needed to decide on
internal arrangement of spaces. We made efforts to make each space in a separate building can play the most efficient
function through discussions and case studies on how to arrange lines of flow from waiting-seeing doctor-medical
treatment-surgery, and spaces for beauty salon, hotel, seclusion, and office.
We allotted half of the site to spaces for entry and exit and for decks to highlight the building, and line of flow is separated
by composing the 2nd floor as partly open formation. The waiting space was designed to provide visitors with sense of
comfortableness with expansion inside and outside, high ceiling, and sky light.
The outer wall composition was expressed with sense of unification with three elements. Its characteristics consists of
outer skin formation expressed by mixing exposed concrete and various kinds of hardwood plants and the formation of
doors and windows in 'ㄱ' form extending to the front door. Wood face covers the roof along the walls, providing the logic
without inconvenience in wall formation. In the inner composition, the ceiling using the sloped roof and the fact that there
are two ceilings are the biggest characteristics. To lessen the burden of narrow space with high ceiling, lighting apparatus
was installed, and primary color sofa is seated on the bottom floor space as the main actor of space. Written by Kim Hohyun

The site is located in a spot where an overview of the road can be taken in as it is on the corner
where the road starts to curve. As such, we tried to leave an intentional impression to viewers from
the form of the building.
The facade is in the form of Jesus greeting many souls, while the side walls of the road symbolize
the draping of the clothing worn by Jesus. The part that forms the face of Jesus has a cross made
of H-beams that is placed so that it can be seen well from the center of the road. To the south are
staircases and halls and to the north is a multi-purpose hall.
With the sloped rooftop, column and corridor both inside and outside, the structure takes on the
form of a traditional multi-story building that can be seen from all four sides, but in a more
contemporary exposed concrete structure. The traditional multi-story building used to be a place for
community gatherings, a traditional concept that has been adopted by the architecture of this
contemporary church.
Unlike existing churches, the sloped rooftop is lifted from the inside of the main hall so that lighting
is sufficient. This was done for the younger churchgoers who prefer a brighter and more cheerful
atmosphere. The interior column is exposed to add a vertical aspect and a corridor is formed to give
richness to the space composition. A flat slab has been installed partially on the surface of the
rooftop, so that the space can be used for social events. Written by Kim Hohyun
