Fort Diemerdam is part of the Stelling of Amsterdam. This historical defence line was recently
put on the UNESCO world heritage list. This ignited a re - development plan for Fort Diemerdam
to make it accessible to visitors, tourists and those interested. The existing bunkers and fortress
guardian house have been restored. The original plan of slopes and strongholds is restored and a
nature conservation program has started. Emma architects has designed a new pavilion in which
and from which puur produkties revives the fortress again with events, tours and catering.

. (Puur) .

Paviljoen Puur can be exclusively reserved for corporate and private events such as product
presentations, meetings, corporate events and weddings. On Sunday and in the summer
Paviljoen Puur is a place where everyone feels at home : young and old can enjoy indoor and
outdoor atmospheric seasonal meals, tastings and a cultural program with theater and music.

Paviljoen Puur is located on the exact site of a former soldiers shelter. The footprint of this shelter
was taken as the basis for the pavilion. Around its base a wooden wall curves up to protect the site
and encompass the program. The design is inspired by the undulating forms of the slopes and the
surrounding landscape. Openings in the sloping wall give views of the gun bays, a terrace and the
direction of the island Pampus, the next fortress of defence line.

MedForCE in Munster
Henn Architekten Wins Competition To Design MedForCE in Munster. It comprises two interlocking, annular
complexes, each surrounding an interior courtyard accessible from a forecourt. This arrangement provides a
clear division between the research areas in the northern part and the Centre for medical Microbiology and

also functions as a communicative hub for both parts.

The eyes do not stay on the containers that are stacked uniformly in the same in open storage yards of a port or
factory. However, the containers, which are positioned as a city building as moving away from its original usage,
are unfamiliar and become an objet that stimulates curiosity. It is possible to create an attractive space through
arranging the containers of a rectangular shape as though playing with the pieces of Lego using the containers. In
addition, the modularized containers may be expanded and re-assembled since they can be divided and
assembled depending on the needs. It shortens the construction period since the basic modules are produced in
advance. And it is easy to apply to the structures that are combining with other buildings or being extended, and
also assembling, dismantling and processing are simple. It is possible to express the unique features by printing by
the form of various mass due to combination and putting on a strong color. Moreover, it is possible to reduce the
generation of construction waste since the containers can be recycled. For these reasons, residential buildings and
container houses are already getting a lot of attentions in overseas.
In this article, we aim to introduce about the container building.

This project originated in our clients wish to experiment with shipping containers.

The emphasis was on sustainable strategies - first, the recycling of a one -

waycontainer for a new and permanent use. The planted roof is held off the

container top, providing shade and air - flow to reduce heat gain. The interior is

insulated with spray foam then lined with bamboo plywood, equally appropriate

for the floor as the walls. The grey water from the sink and shower is captured for

roof irrigation.

Other innovative material choices informed the design: the container floats on a

foundation of recycled telephone poles. The deck is made up of HVAC equipment

. HVAC (

pads(made of recycled soda bottles) set in a steel frame. The exterior light fixtures

) .

are blades from a tractor disc plow.

The building has been designed as a continuous spatial sequence in order to

physically and visually connect various interior and exterior programs. The entire

structure is well insulated, even though the containers appear in it's raw form. The

original container doors have been perforated and serve as external shading blinds

at the sun exposed facades to minimize solar heat gain. A geothermal heat pump

delivers energy for the air conditioning and floor heating systems.

. ,

Another ambition of the project is to reduce the energy hidden in construction

materials, the so called grey energy. Therefore recycled, ecologically sustainable,

fast growing or at least recyclable materials have been used. Further, the minimal

weight of the container structure allowed to re - use the existing foundation plate.

. ,

The use of local bamboo products for indoor and outdoor flooring, as well as all the

built - in furniture additionally supports the ambition of constructing a truly

sustainable building.

The WFH concept is a modular concept, based on a design principle, using 40 feet

high cube standard modules as structural system.

(Flex)

FLEX Space

(Flex) .

The FLEX space is the heart of the house. It contains the living room, kitchen and

, .

can be used for multiple purposes. Parts of the room are double height, creating

. , 2

perfect lighting conditions. The rest of the space is one story height, defined by the

landing that creates access to the spaces on the second floor. In each end of the

FLEX space there is access to the surroundings and daylight. The boundary

between inside and outside disappears, when the doors open. This is a

, .

fundamental part of the design; to be able to open let nature in. It is a consequence

of having varying requirements for inside temperature and definitions of what

domestic functions takes place inside and outside.

(Geometry)

Geometry

The geometry of the FLEX space is defined by the two rows of modules, and can

easily be modified to specific wishes regarding size. The FLEX space has a number

of possible solutions for subdivisions. Both on one plan or two plans. It can also be

one big space, creating a lot of light and openness.

for office width and optimum structural layout. The operations on the geometry are parametrically controlled and
the design went through vigorous rounds of modification to arrive at the final geometry. This geometry also allows
for a balcony zone for each office level.
Meta Design(Hong Kong) is invited as a facade design consultant; the design intension for the facade is taken to

to rise up the Telecommunications Tower that the City of Istanbul plans to build.

The beauty of Istanbul, and this particular place is due, largely, to the environment,

the landscape, the Bosporus, the Marmara Sea, the Black sea, the Golden Horn,

, , ,

the nearby mountains... its the bridge between Europe and Asia, cultures and

, ,

continents come together here, in history this landscape has starred important

moments. Indeed, few cities enjoy more favorable natural conditions.

The topography of mountains in the Asian side of Istanbul ends in the mountains of

Camlica, the gravitational center of Istanbul. It is the center of population density of

. 1 5 .

more than 15 million, and that revolves around this center.

, , ,

From the site, the view shows the city and the landscape with all those

geographical features contained in the manuals : bays, islands, beaches, rivers,

mountains. Through history, Istanbul is characterized by the respect for the

geography in which it sits.

For this reason the natural landscape has not to be swallowed by the architecture;

our proposal offers an end to the conquest of the buildings and artifacts here. That

is why we should not build any kind of building, but an object that clearly reveals

? 21

the natural attributes of the place. Our proposal is simple and in a natural way, as

? .

an element that does not belong to the city, but belongs to the landscape.
Maybe we're talking about a minaret sculpted by the wind Maybe were talking

We believe that the success of the idea goes through the way we understand The

about a twenty - first century lighthouse Or maybe not. We leave the citizen freely

to find the object identified.

profitable and healthy PLACE, where people can live and work on a high - quality

The main concept of the set works with the idea of recreating the city through a

we have chosen the strategy of designing a building with a strong character and

Our whole is built having in mind bioclimatic design A building whit a high level of

aim is that the building rises in the Turkish area of Canakkale but aspires to be a

Both RTA - Office and Dome Partners agreed to design the building in such a

way that it would become an event generator, that a centre for cultural

expression would become an international lure. A work that would launch an

area with the objective of re-evaluating and re-establishing the immense worth

that this civilization had at a global level.

The strategy consists in the design of a unique piece, a jewel, that on the one

hand will complement the ruins of Troy, and on the other be valued in its own

right. The starting point is to recapture with the utmost sensitivity the

magnificence of this civilization that in its golden era created the most beautiful

objects, full of splendor and creativity.

The Museum stands in nature as a work delicately crafted by the hands of

artisans. A piece that stands out from the land but at the same time respects

the dignity of the natural environment. Its lines are reminiscent of the geometry

of Troy; its strained curves, planes and intersections that cut suddenly, the

slope leads to an object. Initially the path is composed of several bands, and

together, as we move forward on the journey these are separated in order to

accommodate such green grass and create spaces for contemplation.

We design the building as if it were a precious object. Perhaps we remember a

cloud, a cloud of steel fabric that dematerialises with intent to appear slightly.

Perhaps this is a great lamp. At night it transforms into a container of light. One

point that emerges light that shines in the city. A singular point, a Landmark.

A large sculpture, a reflection of a civilization in time of change, in times of

greatness, an era of brilliance.

It is a multipurpose, multifunction, a place to perform a multitude of activities.

Used as a bar and restaurant, also includes a series of social events and cultural

The Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Centre for Drug Research and

parcel of land an important university entry point.

The Giraffe childcare center is located in the C1 block of the Seguin Rives de

The facades of the building are made out of white corrugated iron that
provides a minimal background to the wild animal sculptures. The idea is to

appropriate the space ; a giraffe appears to be peacefully eating the leaves of

The facades of the building are made out of white corrugated iron that provides

a minimal background to the wild animal sculptures. The idea is to animate the

urban landscape by using a childs imagination. The wild animals appropriate

the space ; a giraffe appears to be peacefully eating the leaves of the trees from

the neighbouring park, a polar bear tries to clamber up the steps, while a family

Architecture turns into storytelling. The building changes its identity and

becomes a landscape in its own right, a metaphor for the urban jungle. The

animals and the trees link the building to nature and motion. The giraffe has

become a banner for the nursery since it is visible in the surrounding area from

all angles. We walk through its legs to enter the building. These playful and

dreamlike sculptures introduce a little bit of fantasy into the routine life of the
town in order to inspire our lives with a bit of poetry.

Plan by WONDOSHI ARCHITECTS GROUP. LTD. and TeamTen Architects in compotition of The Storage
and Reserve Center for National Works of Art ordered by National Museum of Contemporary Art, KOREA.
The storage is located in the center of the building. Superficially and cross - sectionally, the storage serves as
a core of architecture. Outer walls of the dual system factory are left as an exterior of outward layer. Interior
layers serve as a layer that not only causes free outer walls, but also reinforces structure, facilities, and
security to form storage area. Interior layers are gradually harder; meanwhile exterior layers are gradually
lighter. Implying memories and history of the city, the exterior layers contain another periods of time and
become weathered.

This project begins with restoration of place. Obscuring the boundary between

land and surrounding boundary imposes extendability that a public space may

have. The flow of space created by layer and plate that land remembers

generates flexible landscape. The public space created in such a way shape

angel square along the flow and embodies angels wing as the local symbol by

being uplifted. In addition, various contact points along the flow restores the

identity kept by the local community and connects people to each content.
