4 Shelter Installation

4.1 Shelter Type

Three types of shelters are available:

 PCGS (Pre-Coated Galvanized Steel) + EPS (polystyrene);

ZTE Confidential Proprietary © 2012 ZTE CORPORATION. All rights reserved. 10

Shelter Installation Manual Internal Use Only▲

 RCGS (Pre-Coated Galvanized Steel) + PU (polyurethane);

 FRP (Fiberglass Reinforced Plastics) + PU (polyurethane).

This manual introduces different installation modes for the three kinds of shelters
respectively.

4.2 Installation of Base Steel Frame

4.2.1 Description of Concrete Foundation

The concrete foundation used for shelter installation is in one of the following two
structural forms:

1. Concrete foundation platform (see attached Drawing A.1)

2. Concrete frusta (see attached Drawing A.2)

The installation procedure of the base steel frame is basically the same for the two kinds
of concrete foundations.

4.2.2 Solution for Foundation on Building

It is relatively complicated to install a shelter at the top of a building. In this case, it is

necessary to consider the factors such as bearing capacity of the building, space
between spandrel girders, and space, and design a proper installation mode.
Furthermore, the design solution must be approved by the building owner or the related
unit before being implemented.

The solution of installing the shelter at the top of a building is as follows (for reference
only):

Normally, each shelter is configured with three pieces of GB706-88 18# I-beams with a
length as specified in the contract (normally prepared as 6 m if it is not specified). The
use of I-beam depends upon the bearing capacity of the building.

1. Install the I-beams between two spandrel girders and the shelter on the I-beams
directly, and keep an appropriate distance between the I-beams and the floor.
Remember to prepare a certain number of cushion blocks or concrete piers for the
contact surface between the I-beams and the spandrel girders (this installation
method has a higher requirement for the bearing capacity of spandrel girders).

2. Join the I-beams to the spandrel girders at the top of the building. If necessary, the
I-beams can be welded to the main reinforced bars of the spandrel girders. After the
I-beams are connected to each other by using the reinforced bars, make a concrete
platform (this installation method can distribute the shelter weight uniformly).

The installation procedure of the base steel frame is basically the same on the
foundations in these two solutions (see attached Figure A.3).

4.2.5 Installation Procedure of Base Steel Frame

1. Determine the width and depth directions of the base steel frame according to the
overall layout of the site where the shelter is located, and specify the position of
beam assembly 2 according to the installation position of the air conditioner support
beam;

2. Determine the installation position of the base steel frame based the dimensions of
the concrete foundation and base steel frame, keeping it in the center of the
concrete foundation;

3. Put beam assembly 1, beam assembly 2 and two crossbeams at the related
positions to form a hollow square; align the installation holes at two ends of
crossbeam 1 with corresponding installation holes on beam assembly 1 and beam
assembly 2, so that the upper surface of the crossbeams and that of the beam
assemblies are at the same level; insert the bolts into the installation holes, and
tighten the nuts;

4. Measure the diagonal lengths of the base steel frame with a tape measure, and
knock the end with a longer diagonal by using a hammer, ensuring the dimension

deviation of the two diagonal lengths < 3mm. Then, use a spanner to evenly tighten
the bolts at four corners of the base steel frame;

5. Use a pistol drill to make a hole on the concrete foundation surface, put an
expansion bolt (with the nut removed) into the hole, and use a hammer to knock it
into concrete foundation;

6. Align the installation holes at two ends of crossbeam 2 with the corresponding
installation holes on beam assembly 1 and beam assembly 2, so that the upper
surface of the cross beam and the beam assemblies are at the same level. Insert
the bolts into the installation holes, and tighten the nuts with a spanner. Use the
same method to install beam assembly 3, and then install the support beam and air
conditioner support beam in turn. Note that the two support beams must correspond
to each other after being installed.
