Mess Committee Events 2018-19

Pani-Puri Competition:
The Pani-Puri competition was on 7th September, 2018. The registration fees for the
competition was Rs.30/- and it was an eating competition. The person who ate the maximum
number of pani-puris within the given time, following all other rules was declared as the
winner. Rahul Bhaskaran, a student of SIBM,H second year was declared as the winner of the
competition having 25 pani-puris and Naman Tyagi of SLS,H having 23 pani-puris. The
turnout was quite high from both SLS & SIBM as this is one of those events which is looked
forward to throughout the year.
Agaz-E-Hafta
The Agaz-E-Hafta took place from 19th November to 25th November,2018. It was a week
long event organised by the Mess Committee. The events in the week were as follows:
Day1: Candle Light Dinner
Day 2: Movie Night
Day 3: Games Night
Day 4: Candle Light Dinner
Day 5: Bon Fire Night

Gourmet Battle 3.0

Gourmet Battle 3.0 was a testing of the Team’s and the players on different fronts such as:
 Culinary Expertise
 Fast paced Decision Making
 Creativity
 Business Sense
 Cleanliness
 Attention to detail
 Budgeting
 Wastage usage
 Communication
 and various other skills.

To evaluate the above fronts, the battle had been distributed to 2 Rounds:
Round 1: Baaton hi Baaton mein
In this the Team Members had to cook Bhel and Mocktail.
Detail:
Participant is first made to look at all the ingredients kept in front of them. The participant
was then blindfolded and asked to make Bhel under 4 minutes.
The other participant meanwhile was also Blindfolded and was asked to make a mocktail
using the limited ingredients given, in a stipulated time of 4 minutes. Both of the Team
members have to communicate with each other and help to create a fantastic food item
followed up with a mocktail. They also had to name it and calculate the Price of it for varied
audience and varied restaurants.
Evaluation:
The participants were evaluated on different fronts such as taste, presentation, business sense,
presence of mind etc.
Evaluation of this round was done by Mess Committee members and chefs

Round 2: Daawat-E-Ishq
In this round, participants as a team were to prepare one starter and one main course of their
own choice from the available Ingredients.
Detail:
In the first 15 minutes, only one participant was allowed to cook. In the next 15 minutes, the
other participant was allowed to cook. From the 30- minute mark to the 45-minute mark, one
hand of each of the participants was tied together and were made to cook together.
In the last 15 minutes, there were no constraints or conditions.
After Cooking has been done, they would be given 15 Minutes to prepare a Business Plan of
their own restaurant, with menu (consisting 15 Dishes) and have to present them in front of
Jury. They would be required to name the dish with Pricing.
Evaluation:
The Guest Chef and In-House Chef will evaluate all dishes of this round. All in all, this round
would last for 1 hour 30 Minutes.
