LABORATORY ACTIVITY NO.5

ELECTRICITY PRODUCES MAGNETISM
Name: Edrian Salahag Score:
Grade & Section: 10-BACAN Date:09/10/19

I.INTRODUCTION

II.OBJECTIVES
1. To demonstrate and explain how a simple electric motor works.
2. To prove that moving electric fields generate a magnetic field.
III.MATERIALS:
 Demonstration Motor Setup
 Batteries
 Copper Wires
 Alligator Clips
IV.PROCEDURE
1. Prepare your materials and setup the motor
demonstration.
2. Attach the copper wires to the alligator clips.
Make sure to strip the ends of the wires.
3. Position the alligator clips to the positive and
negative terminals of the motor, and attach it
to the same ends of the power supply.
4. Observe the rotation of the motor

V.DATA AND OBSERVATIONS

Observe the rotation of motor when:
A. Attached to normal polarity
B. Attached to reverse polarity

I. QUESTIONS
1. How does an electric motor generally works?
2. Who pioneered the invention of motors and what experiences did he/she went through to
come up with this concept?
3. Are DC motors reversible?
4. How does Fleming’s Left Hand Rule explain the movement of forces in DC Motors?
