Theory:
An earthquake (also known
a quake, tremor or temblor) is the result of a sudden
release of energy in the Earth's crust that
creates seismic waves.
Piezo is used to describe materials that accumulate a
charge as a result of the piezoelectric effect. Piezo
materials, including crystals and ceramics generate a
Electric voltage in response to an applied mechanical
Stress and Vibration.
The IC 555 timer is a one type of chip used in
different applications like an oscillator, pulse
generation, timer.
The operating range of this IC ranges from 4.5V -15V
DC supply. The functional parts of the 555 timer IC
include flip-flop, voltage divider and a comparator.
The main function of this IC is to generate an
accurate timing pulse.

Working Principle:
Eartquake Detector Which has been made by using
Piezo Electric sensor, IC 555 timer and Transistor
BC547. As we give some mechanical input to the
Piezo Electric Sensor in the form of vibration, we get
the electrical output in the form of voltage. This
voltage act as input to the IC 555 timer. This IC 555
gives the pulse output across the Buzzer and LED.
Buzzer will generate the sound and LED will glow till
the capacitor is charged.

Precaution:
1. Always ensure that all electronics equipment is
properly grounded
 2. Avoid loose wires and connections.
3. Make sure your circuit is not overloaded.

Result and Conclusion:

While performing an experiment, we observed that
when we apply mechanical stress and vibration to the
Piezo Electric sensor, we get input voltage for IC and
output of the IC is across buzzer and LED. Buzzer
generate sound and LED glow. Hence we have
examine the Operation of Earthquake Detection
successfully.
