Beaches with gray and white sand, scenic islands and islets, as well as hills and rock formations,
farmlands and greens and forests – these will be the things packed for the adventurous traveler. Cantilan
is a beautiful town. There are so many beaches there including but not limited to ayoke island, libtong
cove, Inijakan, Casarica, Rock gem, Balwarte surfing spot (Baybay II) and more. That’s why they are
focused in tourism and those beaches are also the source of food and income of the people in Cantilan
because there are so many fishes in that area. The fishermen are always out at the light of the moon every
night because they are going to catch fishes so that their family can live. As the sun start to shine, the
fishermen will drag their nets at the side of the seashore and if there are people that will help them pull
their nets they will give them some fishes because that is their way of giving you thanks. That is how kind
and generous they are.

During the feast of Cantilan you can really witness this so called Sirong festival. At the morning
there are so many people in the street waiting for the street dancers. The street dancers are dancing with
their colorful and beautiful costumes and they have their fetching, gorgeous woman who was holding the
saint that is related to that celebration. And then at the afternoon the sirong festival will start and you
can really see that there are so many people who wanted to watch because this event was very well
known and famous, that every tourist noted this event in their notebooks. During the event you can see
the colorful costumes of dancers, dancing so beautifully and appropriately, prepared, organize and
balance. And you can also recognize that the people who are watching are shouting because they are
yelling their aces and favorites in each contestant. That’s how they show their support. After the event
you will be wrapped in mixed emotion like enjoyment, sadness because it’s already done, curiosity for
who will win in the contest, hunger and lastly happiness.

In ordinary day you won’t get bored because there are so many spots to hung out with your
friends. One of these is the town’s plaza on weekdays where there are so many carts that are selling
street foods like fish ball, balot, cheese rolls, hotdogs, and dynamite that’s why you can see students,
teachers, and different individuals sitting on their chairs eating their favorite foods. You can also go to

One of the most interesting and valuable gems of the town is its warmth and hospitable people.
People are enthused to help each other and live life religiously. They likewise called attention to that

clans held in the place. The place is not resistant to changes yet preserved the culture and tradition in a
special way.
I JUST DON’T UNDERSTAND

Did I just watch an instant transmission? I thought only Guko -a powerful character in Dragonballs- have
mastered such skills. Did he just share it to my classmate? He was just here for a moment and now he’s
gone.

CUTTING CLASSES – this must have been the mastered skills of my classmate for his entire stay in the
school. The irony is he stays in school but he’s always out. I just don’t understand.

For the past two years, I have nearly get used to this very common scenario as a routine of my
classmate, now classmates. They enter the classroom and intentionally leave the class as one's formal
education without a valid excuse/reason.

I can’t barely come across with the mindset of these students who resort often to cutting classes.
Students should realize that this act has many drawbacks. They need to grasp that good education has
an impact to their entire life.

Its indeed a total mess on the part of the teacher and parents. Parents believed that their children are in
the school. Others preferred to toil hard enough just to send them to school. Meanwhile, students don’t
even realize the sacrifices that their parents have paid just to craft them a better future. Hasn’t anyone
told these students that it’s not cool to deceive our parents whom expecting us learning something at
the end of every day?

Teachers shoulder the same problem even more. Students who skip classes will surely learn nothing.
When students decide not to attend class, they are very much jeopardizing their learning process. The
students begin to lose the lessons learned each day in class. The end result perhaps is in the exam.
Failing score waves once again to their teacher which literally means remedial classes is on.

Come to think of it, teachers spends additional time for the learning you might have learned earlier but
wasted due to your insensible character. Mam Chip & Mam Ken find it hard to meet their meant Mr.
Right because the time that they should have been spending looking for Mr. Right have been spent with
you to cope up with the class. That’s how special you are. In the other view, that’s how numb you are
doing nothing with these mess.

With this, we even have reserved guts to post in our facebook wall that requirements are hampering
you quite hard enough that made your life miserable. The root of the problem will be traced to your
own unmindful ways of what education is.

Let me try to understand you. But I guess I will be compromised finding it abstrusely.

Let us always be reminded that Learning is not attained by chance, it must be sought for with ardor and
attended to with diligence. We need to attend classes not for our teacher nor for our parents. After all,
this is all about us. This is all about our future. Have you heard of someone dreamed for his/her future a
total mess?
TRAIN LAW: BOON OR BANE?

“Ako? kung ibebenta ko sarili ko, tataasan ko ang presyo matawag mo lang akong mahal.” This is a
famous punch line of the Filipinos to put satire on the issue of Tax Reform for Acceleration and
Inclusion, a law signed by President Rodrigo Duterte on December 19, 2017.

To shed light to the matter, the reform or Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (Train/ Republic Act
10963) law exempts from paying taxes the first P250,000 annual taxable income, meaning those earning
P21,000 a month would no longer need to pay income taxes. It also raises the tax exemption for 13th
month pay and other bonuses to P90,000.

The good side is the income of taxpayers who earn approximately P22,000 monthly and below are now
exempted from income tax payment. These employees will be able to receive their salary without any
deductions because of tax. According to the administration, this simplified yet causing fairer taxation
will increase the collection of revenue where 70% would be utilized to the Build, Build, Build program,
and other infrastructures. Education, health, housing, and other social services and mitigating measures
will enjoy the 30% allocation for them.

On the other side, Filipinos will need to pay excise tax on petroleum, sweetened beverages, tobacco,
mining, automobile and coal to compensate for loss of revenue from income taxes.

Eventually, prices of the commodities may continue to rise, thus, the inflation rate too and the price
hikes of commodities may lead to the increasing percentage of poverty and unemployment.

The very own people who will suffer first are the members of the informal economy whose income is
beforehand is below minimum of the taxable.

These people will not be exempted on the increase of prices of basic commodities. Consequently,
poverty might hit them hard. An aftermath of this would be increasing crime just to afford a living. This
could lead more to serious dilemma.

The irony would be seen that although income taxes will greatly decrease for almost all employees, they
would need to spend more money on things that they might need -their basic needs. This reduction of
income tax redounds meaningless to the Filipino.

In return, the increase in fuel prices will trigger corresponding increase in the cost of transporting people
and goods, which will consequently give way to increase on the prices of retail commodities. In
addition, a demand for wage increase conforming to standard earning to live will give rise to production
cost. And obviously, these unexpected costs may turn to happen either of these: retrenchment or
passing again the burden to consumers by increasing its price.

All in all, there will be a domino effect which will perennially put the economy in chaos if the
administration left the issue overlooked.

According to economists, the Philippines' annual inflation rate rose to 6.7 percent in September of 2018
from 6.4 percent in the previous month, and compared to market expectations of 6.8 percent. It is the
highest reading since February 2009. due to a surge in prices of food and a faster rise cost of transport.

If kept not addressed, it would surely create bigger and wider poverty among our people and the
ordinary Filipinos will be in the front line of the cumbersome high cost of living.
Fake news news

Misleading. Inaccurate. corrupting. These are just some of the epithets attached to news in social media
and other none reputable websites that is now termed Fake News.

Fake news as defined by facebook are said to be misinformation—inaccurate, but not necessarily
malicious that is done deliberately where erroneous or manipulated content is spread intentionally.

The news about fake news is as destructive as we consider physical harm. New York Times described
online fake news as fictitious articles created to deceive readers, with the general goal of receiving more
web traffic. The prevalence of this issue is a threat to people’s harmony and significantly on our learners
whose lives devout to internet now and then. Our students who considers internet life.

Sadly, whether the information is credible or not, anyone can publish content for the consumption of
the world who sits with the internet face to face. Fueling acts such as sharing and reposting have made
this even worse because people get tricked and set aside the credibility of the piece and just kept on
sharing things to the far end of the world.

In the advent of internet and with the way social media operates, anyone with access to the internet is
able to write or publish anything he or she pleases, no matter if the information is true or not. The real
daner here is that public might not be well-equipped to separate quality information from false
information.

In the context of Philippine education, it’s undeniable that some of our books are erroneous. Seeing the
situation, our learners will be more prone to fake information which will be aggravated deceitful
information in the internet.

It is therefore a necessity for the school to instill fact-checking and to sharpen each student’s ability to
make informed judgments. Our learners should always be encouraged to read intensively.

Undoubtedly, the issue about the prevalence of fake news will greatly attack our trust with the different
media that furnish us information. Our trust with our fellow citizen will eventually and gradually wear
out.

Good news is that we are not helpless having fake news because we can exactly break it out. We just
need to be responsible in replicating information which we are not assured of its accuracy and
credibility.
