Role of a Branch Manager in General

A Branch Manager is an executive who is in charge of a particular location,


or branch office, of a bank or other financial services company; he or she is
responsible for all of the functions of that branch office—including hiring
employees, overseeing the approval of loans and, marketing, building a
rapport with the community to attract business, assisting with customer
relations, and ensuring that the branch meets its goals and objectives in a
timely manner.

A Branch Manager is expected to run their locations as their own


businesses. Branch managers are responsible for virtually all functions of
their branch including growing that location's customer base and elevating
the community's perception of the company's brand. As such, Branch
Managers are expected to be proactive about networking to bring in new
business and increase revenue. A new Branch Manager might join the local
chamber of commerce and attend business and networking events, where
one often can meet influential community members.

Branch Managers play the most important roles at the field level. While the
Branch Managers are responsible for day-to-day directing all operational
aspects including disbursement and recovery; they are also responsible for
documentation and record keeping of loans, customer service, human
resources, administration and compliance of rules, regulations and
guidelines of concerned authority.

Role of a Branch Manager in context to Birla Emporium

A Branch Manager is expected to be responsible for ensuring performance


of the staff, maintaining high level of customer’s satisfaction, and for
sustaining and expanding the business growth and profitability of a branch.
Collect data and compile reports on its progress, advice and consult with
customers about their financial needs.

The Branch Managers is also supposed to hire, train and manage staff,
organise and run meetings, advertise and market their branch, and meet
with external stake holders and clients.
It the sole responsibility of a Branch Manager to operate his/her Branch in
accordance with the developmental objectives including carrying out of all
of the functions of a branch office and location, such as overseeing the
investments and loans and lines of credit, marketing, building a rapport with
the community to attract business and assisting with customer relations.

A Branch Manager is expected to have the knowledge on following points:

 Understand the way a branch is organized.


 Understand how to effectively manage the sales and marketing team of the
branch.
 Understand how to develop and implement a business plan.
 Discuss critical branch or management issues with the General Manager and
sort it out.
 Supervision of branch staff in implementing business strategies.
 Warm, friendly and welcoming atmosphere for both employees and
customers.
 Quality and exceptional services to customers.
 Target and projected income/profit.
 Enhance individual productivity
 Compliance with organization procedures and policies.
 Compliance with prevailing rules and guidelines.
 Personal Communication and customer satisfaction.
 Operational excellence and integrity of the branch.
 Action plans to enhance operational controls and optimize customer service
and profitability of the branch.
