METHOD STATEMENT

R.C.C. PILE CAP WORKS


1. PURPOSE :

The purpose of this procedure is to follow proper activities to carry out pile cap works in
Ahuja tower project as per the approved drawings, technical specification and standards.

2. SCOPE

It includes reinforcement, form work and concrete works. The work shall be carried out in
accordance with specifications and corresponding approved drawings/ approved method
statement for construction of pile caps.

VIBRATOR NEEDLES WOODDEN FLOATS, TROWELS, TOWER CRANE, PICK AND CARRY,
CONCRETE PUMP, ETC…

3. METHODOLOGY

4.1 Materials
The source of materials (for cement, coarse aggregate, fine aggregate, water, admixture,
and reinforcement steel) shall be identified and the sources shall be tested and approved.
1. CEMENT: The cement to be used in the works shall be Ordinary Portland Cement of 53
grade confirming to IS 12269 & IS 456.
2. WATER: Potable water generally considered satisfactory. The water to be used shall satisfy
the requirements as per IS 456-2000.
3. CONCRETE: Concrete shall be as per required grade mentioned in specification. And shall
confirm to IS 456 – 2000.
4. REINFORCEMENT: For plain or reinforced cement concrete the reinforcement shall be of
grade confirming to IS 432 / IS 1786- HYSD bars. The steel supplied with test certificate
shall be assembled in accordance with approved drawings and shall ensure proper storing
to avoid deterioration and corrosion.
4. WORK PROCEDURE

1.1 PREPARATORY WORKS.

1. Excavation shall be done in the vicinity of the piles taking care not to damage the same.
2. Earth from the periphery of the pile concrete shall be removed manually.
3. Pile concrete shall be broken by use of Pneumatic compressor and Jack Hammers upto
the required top levels.
4. Excess rebars if any shall be cutoff after satisfying the Ld requirements.
5. Pile built-up shall be done if required by using the same Grade of concrete as used for
Piling. Nitobond shall be applied to the Pile Concrete surface as per manufacturer’s
recommendation and then the fresh concrete shall be poured.

FORMWORK

1. Ensuring necessary care to be taken, the formwork true to line, levels, plumb, etc., and
rigid, adequately braced both horizontally and vertically. Form joints shall be as much as
minimized and to be tight and shall not permit any leakage of slurry from concrete.
2. Required formwork to be made out of plywood / steel shutters to suit the site
conditions. Formwork materials shall be rigid, even surface, and sufficiently strong to
prevent deformation during concrete. .
3. Staging / scaffolding to be properly planned and designed.
