Modal Verbs
We use modals to show if we believe something is certain, possible or impossible, We also use them to do
things like talk about ability, ask permission, and make requests and offers.
Usamos modales para mostrar si creemos que algo es cierto, posible o imposible. También los usamos para
hacer cosas como hablar sobre la habilidad, pedir permiso y hacer solicitudes y ofertas.
The simple past is a verb tense that is used to talk about things that happened or existed before now.
How to Formulate the Simple Past
For regular verbs, add -ed to the root form of the verb (or just -d if the root form already ends in an e):
Play →Played
Type →Typed
Listen →Listened
I lived abroad for ten years.
For irregular verbs, things get more complicated.
The irregular verbs, including the verb to be, the simple past forms are more erratic:
Go →Went
Do →Did
Am/Is/Are→Was/Were
We went to Spain for our holidays.
They got home very late last night.
THE AFFIRMATIVE FORM

Cómo formular el pasado simple:
Para verbos regulares, agregue -ed a la forma raíz del verbo (o simplemente -d si la forma raíz ya
termina en una e):
Jugar → Jugo
Escuchar → Escucho
Viví en el extranjero durante diez años.
LA FORMA NEGATIVA
Sujeto + verbo auxiliar (hacer) + "no" + verbo principal (en infinitivo) ...
1. Usamos did (did) para hacer negativos con el pasado simple:
No fueron a España este año.
