Lesson Plan in Technology and Livelihood Education 9

No. 3
Quarter: Second
Grade Level: Grade 9

Strand/Domain: Technical Drafting

Content: Making an Isometric Sketch
Learning competency/ies: Demonstrate the line sketching, sketching an ellipse, and construction of an isometric drawing.
I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:
a. Differentiate sketching an ellipse from sketching an isometric;
b. Explain the relevance of isometric sketching; and
c. Demonstrate the steps in sketching an isometric box.
II. SUBJECT MATTER
A. Topic/s: Making an Isometric Sketch
B. Reference/s: Bernardino, JC. et., al. (2014). Technology and Livelihood Education The New Grade 9
(pp. 266-268) Quezon City, Philippines: Phoenix Publishing House, INC.
C. Material/s: Chalk and Chalkboard, Powerpoint Presentation
D. Values Integration: Accuracy, Curiosity, Self-reflection, Independence, Concentration, Cooperation and
Respect for property
DCT 8 Learners obey and follow the rules and regulations of the school being models to the younger
ones.
DCT 10 The learners exhibit fairness during group activities by accepting shared-responsibilities in
carrying-out the task.
III. LESSON PRESENTATION

A. PRELIMINARY ACTIVITIES
1. Prayer
2. Classroom Management
3. Attendance

B. MOTIVATION
The class is divided into three (3) groups. Each group will give their insights about the differences of the pictures being
shown in the slides.

C. LESSON PROPER
After knowing and learning the skills in line sketching, the next thing to learn is the pictorial freehand drawing called
isometric sketching.

Isometric sketch makes use of three important axes for its

formation. These are the vertical axis, the 30 degrees right
cross axis, and the 30 degrees left cross axis.
Steps in Sketching an Isometric Box

1. Sketch a thin horizontal line, XY.

2. Sketch a thin vertical axis AB perpendicular of the given line XY and forming two equal 90
degrees angles.
3. Sketch a thin 30 degrees left cross axis, AC
4. Sketch a thin 30 degrees right cross axis, AD.
5. Mark off distances to represent the width, length, and the thickness of the box.
6. Connect CE parallel to vertical axis.
7. Connect DF parallel to vertical axis.
8. Complete the drawing.

D. FORMATIVE ASSESSMENT/S USED

The teacher shows an isometric sketch. The learners answer it orally by identifying the position/view of
each isometric sketch.

1.

2. 3.

1. Top View 2. Front View 3. Side View

E. GENERALIZATION
 What is Isometric Sketching? What are the steps in sketching an isometric box?
 Give some examples of objects where isometric sketching can be used.
IV. EVALUATION
The teacher tells the learners to answer the Assessment on their T.L.E Book (pp. 268, Exercises No. 1)
V. ASSIGNMENT
Review the next lesson about alphabet of lines and its classification. Reference: Bernardino, JC. et., al. (2014).
