LESSON PLAN IN TEACHING Pp (MARUNGKO APPROACH)


EXPERIMENTAL METHOD
FIRST TRIAL RUN

I. OBJECTIVES

At the end of the session the learner should be able to:

1. produce the letter sound of 'p' orally provided with different


pictures/flashcards
2. write Pp by connecting the points correctly provided with different
examples of pictures
3. blend Pp with the other previously learned letters

II. SUBJECT MATTER

Emergent readers, ranging from 4-5 years old

III.PROCEDURE

A. Review
The teacher will have some recap/review on the previously learned
lessons. The teacher shows various pictures and the pupils identify the
letter and produce its sound.

B. Motivation
Bring and Show Me'
The teacher will introduce the new lesson through a game: ' Bring
Me.' The teacher will ask the pupils to bring to her what is being
asked. The learner who can bring correctly to the teacher the object
placed inside a box will gain a prize.

Examples : papel, paso, panyolito

After, the teacher asks the pupils to say the names of the objects
given to her, in group, they are going to rename all of the objects.

A. Presentation

Sounding Letter P as 'pah -pah


The teacher gives the sound of letter Pp and the pupils will repeat after
her as the letter is showed or flashed.

The teacher will show to them how to write Pp using the


fingers in the air. The pupils will then follow as they give
the letter sound
The teacher will show them how to write on their palm. The
pupils will then follow as they give the letter sound
The teacher will ask the pupils to write the target letter on
the board connecting the dots; tracing the letter 'p' after, as
they give the sound

Group Activities:

 Collage of P
The teacher cuts out pieces of paper where the pupils will form them to
form Pp

 Writing of P
After having formed Pp. The teacher asks them to write Pp on the board.

 Coloring P
Ask pupils to color red the big case P and green for lower case p
Blending P

The teacher uses the chart below to blend Pp with the other previously learned
letters.

LESSON PLAN IN TEACHING ‘P’ PHONETIC METHOD
CONVENTIONAL METHOD
FIRST TRIAL RUN

I. Objectives:

At the end of the session, the learners should be able to:

1. Identify Pp
2. identify the case Pp
3. write Pp by connecting the points correctly provided with different
examples of pictures
4. connect correctly the pictures of the words with initial sound of Pp
5. produce the sound Pp

II. Subject Matter

A. Topic : Introduce letter Pp


B. Materials : tarp papel, pictures, cutouts pictures and sourced out
videos

III. Procedures
A. Review
The teacher will have some recap/review on the previously learned lessons.
The teacher shows various pictures and the pupils identify the letter and
produce its sound.

C. Motivation
Video Playing
The teacher will introduce the new lesson through a video. The
video will have a presentation of letter P and its sound. The teacher
will let the student repeat the sound of letter P in a parallel way.

B. Presentation

Recognizing Pp

The teacher will present a big letter P paper cutout in the chalkboard and
call her/his pupils by name to repeat the sound of the given letter.
The teacher will show to them how to write Pp using the fingers in the air.

The teacher will show to them how to write Pp on their


palm.
The teacher will ask the pupils to write the target letter on
the board connecting the dots; tracing the letter Pp
The teacher will let the pupils pronounce the /p/ sound.

Group Activities:

 Picture P
The teacher will give the pupils some picture with letter P.

 Underlining P
By underlining pictures with letter p.

 Writing of P
After having formed P. The teacher asks them to write P on the board.

 Coloring P
Ask pupils to color red the big case P and green for lower case p

Application: Scavenger Hunt

The letter P and other alphabet letters will be scattered all over the
classroom. The teachers will let the pupils to roam around the classroom and search for
the letter p cutouts. The teachers will instruct the pupils that as soon as they get the
letter p paper cutout they will submit it in front and pronounce the /p/ sound.

Generalization: P is sound is ‘pah’. This is how to write big case P and this is
how to write lower case p is written.

IV.EVALUATION

I. Objectives:

2. give word/s that begin with letter Rr.
3. identify pictures with initial /Rr/.
4. blend Rr with other previously learned letters

A. New Lesson
a. Motivation
The teacher will flash the story entitled “Robin and the Rainbow”

B. Discussion

1. The teacher will ask the children to name the objects flashed on screen
( examples such as rain, roses, raincoats, and rainbow). Ask them to produce the
starting sound of the objects .

Sounding Like Lions


Let the pupils hear the sound of Rr
Tell them to sound like the tigers with their classmates at their left…right..
front….and back.

Activity I

Writing the upper and lower cases of Rr.

The teacher says:


“Follow with me as I write Upper Case of R on the air.....on your classmate’s
back..... on your table.....” Ask pupils to write Rr on the air sound it out well.
(These will be taken thrice.)
The teacher asks:
“Who can write upper case R on the board? How about the small case?

Activity II

The teacher says (divide the class into 5 pupils per group)
(Holding the tarp papel) I have Rr’s, let me place these on the floor, I want
you to color red all upper case and green all the lower case. The group who
does it correctly will receive a prize.

Blending Rr

Using the chart of Rr, the teacher will blend Rr with the other letters.

2. write R by connecting the points correctly provided with different
