Letter of Recommendation

I am pleased to write a recommendation letter for Nazmul Islam who is applying to the graduate program. I
have known him for over five years as I was his Professor at Bangladesh University of Textiles. I came to know him
quite well when he was a student in my Machine Design course and he approached me with ardor for machine design
and automation during the fifth semester of his study. After observing him for this long, I can thoroughly vouch for his
character and abilities.

I always found Nazmul as an attentive and potential student. He had come to me several times to discuss academic
courses and research related topics in which, he confidently talked about his aspirations towards higher education and
research. For his undergrad project, he wanted to design a piezoelectric self-harvesting actuator which was a
significantly complex topic for a student at this level and would require a top-notch research facility. I advised him to
work in the PROJECTINA microscope and go for a microscopic analysis of cellulosic fabric. He also designed and
developed an automatic firefighting system during which he gained competence in machine design. Nazmul was an
enthusiastic, energetic, and exceptionally well-organized student. He always demonstrated good quantitative skills
with problem-solving capability. I have always found him curious and responsive to know more. Besides the academic
record, he also engaged with a different extra-curricular club such as – cultural club, science and technology club,
debate club, business development club, blood donation club, etc. He was nominated campus coordinator of Clothing
Institute and arranged technical conference, which had escalated his team-work and leadership skills. As a person who
is always ready to take up responsibility, he carries out his duties with immense dedication.

After his study, he joined here at Bangladesh University of Textiles as a guest lecturer. Upon my discussion with the
students and colleagues, I know that everyone loves his honesty and amiable nature. He has the capability to improvise
and explain everything easily. Students loved his caring nature and thorough explanation of every question. Despite
his experience and young age, he is quite capable of working entirely on his own in a self-directed manner. Concerning
his potential, I am pleased that Nazmul is planning to enroll in graduate school. I have no doubt that he has the skills,
focus, and determination to successfully complete a master’s degree from your esteemed University in a timely
fashion. I also believe he will seek to complete a Ph.D.

Nazmul is a rare find. He is ambitious, enthusiastic, and yet very open-minded and even self-effacing. I believe he will
succeed wherever he ends up attending graduate school, He will be a dedicated student and a competent professional.
