OJT Narrative Report

On-The-Job Trainee Jan Mark E. Ofilas

It was June 10, 2019 when I started my OJT in College of Information and
Computing Sciences Located at Cagayan State University Carig Campus. This Agency
served as my training ground for me to enhance my skill and applying all the knowledge
I have been acquired from first year up to this very moment and to explore things in the
real world. On October 7, 2019 I transferred to Computer Technician Office.

The Laboratory Technician’s Office are assigned to take care of the computer units on
every lab that includes, setting up hardwares, install the softwares that students and
instructors needed and maintain or repair technological equipment or peripheral
devices.
The department assigned to me is very organized especially this department faces
different types of people. The method of operation of this department is good because
the way they process their work everyday helps students and staffs in their classes in every
laboratory rooms.

My position as a trainee fits into the department by the way of repairing computer
units, dealing with computer problems and communicate with others that helps improves
my skills to have a potential and to become competent someday. As an IT student and
has already an idea in using computers really fits and can give a help not only in the
office but also in other people specially students who needs an assist.

During my OJT hours, I spent it with patience and determination to work hard, for
me to finish all the works that was assigned to me by my boss. It was my responsibility and
my duty to work with no hesitation to impress the people around and inside the office.

First, I was challenged when my boss assigned a task for me to clone and reformat
a computer unit. I was afraid because I didn’t know yet how to clone and reformat a
computer unit, and I approach my boss and asked how to do it. But then I successfully
know how to do it with the help of my boss. Second, when proffesors want me to monitor
their class. It was a challenge for me because I am monitoring students just like me, and
how it feels to be in front of students just like how the proffesors do.

My success during my training is that when I’ve gain learning on how to develop
self confidence. Also the success in doing the entire task successfully that improves my
skills in computers. The effect of this is it makes me become a competent individual and
being a good intern.
The content from my coursework I apply to my experience are: Networking,
Researching, and troubleshooting. The course that I find the most helpful is when I am
repairing computer units in every laboratory rooms; I was able to repair, clone and
reformat computers by the knowledge I have in troubleshooting.

From the experiences during my training, I’ve learned on how to repair, clone and
reformat computer units in every laboratory rooms. I’ve learn a lot also in PC assembly
that helps my skills improve.

My experience with the people around me is that, I’ve encountered different

attitudes of every student and faculty members. Some are very kind and friendly and
some are unkind and short tempered. But despite all of that, I can manage to deal with
them in a nice way where the best attitude than I can have.

The most memorable event or experience during my practicum I will never forget
is that my ojt colleague became my friend.

For me, I don’t have any recommendation to improve the practicum program,
because the benefits has already provide opportunities for me to gain experience, and
it determines for me to have an interest in a particular career.

My advice to those who will take their practicum in the near future is to have the
willingness to work with determination without hesitations. Its good to have their listening
and Communication skills,Technical Skills,Team working skills to have a successful result of
work and have trust in yourself to improve self-confidence. It is your chance to enhance
your knowledge and skills. You will gain
