CRITERIA FOR EVALUATING CLASS WORK:

1. For class activities it will be taken into account that the teacher will always put a signature or
stamp, in order to confirm the student's work during the session; at the end of each cut the
signatures or stamps will be counted, and from there the quantity of stamps will be taken into
account and a grade of 5 will be assigned to the student who obtained, of 3 to which he
obtained half and 1 to whom he obtained less than the half.
Note: Homework will be assigned a stamp or signature, which enters into class activities.
2. The active participation of the student in the face of class questions, their attitude and
disposition will be taken into account

7.1.1 CONSTRUCTION OF MEANING

 Parts of the fraction

We can describe numbers smaller than one by using decimals or fractions. Today,
most systems use decimals, but it is still useful to know how to read and say simple
fractions in English.

Look at these examples of fractions:

We write: We say:
½ a half OR one half
¼ a quarter OR one quarter
¾ three quarters
⅓ a third OR one third
⅔ two thirds
⅕ a fifth OR one fifth
⅗ three fifths
⅛ an eighth OR one eighth
⅝ five eighths

7.2.1 CONSTRUCTION OF MEANING

Like fractions are fractions with the same denominator. You can add and subtract like fractions easily -
simply add or subtract the numerators and write the sum over the common denominator.

Before you can add or subtract fractions with different denominators, you must first find equivalent
fractions with the same denominator, like this:

1. Find the smallest multiple (LCM) of both numbers.

2. Rewrite the fractions as equivalent fractions with the LCM as the denominator.

When working with fractions, the LCM is called the least common denominator (LCD).
