CHILDREN’S RIGHTS ON THE LOCAL DEVELOPMENT PLANS AND
ALIGNING THE LOCAL CHILDREN’S CODE TO THE UNCRC ON
OCTOBER 16-17, 2019

DATE : 10 OCTOBER 2019

1. Starting June 2019, the Ministry of Interior and Local Government (MILG) commenced
providing trainings to BARMM LGUs on child-friendly local governance to prepare them
for the Child-Friendly Local Government Audit, a mandatory audit system for measuring
local governance performance in the delivery of services that would generate positive
results for children.
2. As a result of this, we are partnering with Conciliation Resources (CR) and Save the
Children Philippines (SCP) to conduct an orientation and workshop with 12 barangay
LGUs in Parang, Pagalungan, North Upi and South Upi, Maguindanao on 16-17 October
2019 on “Mainstreaming Children’s Rights on the Local Development Plans and Aligning
the Local Children’s Code to the UNCRC.”

3. The technical assistance of Save the Children and Conciliation Resources shall
supplement the efforts of MILG in ensuring responsive, inclusive, participatory and
representative decision-making at all levels.

4. The objective of this activity is to prepare BARMM LGUs for the Child-Friendly Local
Government Audit and ensure the establishment of social accountability mechanisms in
barangays that will be participated in by children/child-led groups and civil society
organizations.

5. In this connection, you are hereby mandated to attend the orientation and workshop
on 16-17 October 2019 in Cotabato City. The specific details of the venue will be
announced later. Accommodation and food shall be shouldered by Save the Children.
