4.4. Abstraction  Suicide – defined as an act with a fatal outcome that is deliberately initiated
(_20_mins.) and performed by the person in the knowledge or expectation of its fatal
outcome.
 Derived from Latin word Sui = oneself, cidium = a killing
 Tenth leading cause of death worldwide.
 Parasuicide – a suicide attempts or gestures and self-harm where there is no
result in death.

 Domestic Violence- Domestic violence and abuse are used for one purpose
and one purpose only: to gain and maintain total control over you. An abuser
doesn’t “play fair.” An abuser uses fear, guilt, shame, and intimidation to wear
you down and keep you under their thumb.
 Bullying – is an unwanted, agresson behaviour. The behaviour is repeated, or
can be repeated, over time.

 Stalking- Stalking is unwanted and/or repeated surveillance by an individual or
group toward another person.
 Extortion – is the act of using force or threats to force people to hand over
their money or properties.
 Gang and Youth Violence- A gang is a group or society of associates, friends
or members of a family with a defined leadership and internal organization
that identifies with or claims control over territory in a community and
engages, either individually or collectively, in illegal, and possibly violent,
behaviour.
 Illegal Fraternity-Related Violence- a group of people sharing a common
profession or interests.
 Physical Hazing
 Kidnapping - is the unlawful transportation, asportation and confinement of a
person against their will. Thus, it is a composite crime.
 Terrorism – is the use of violence for political goals and putting the public on
a great number of people in fear.

 Verbal Abuse – is a form of cruelty that involves the use of words.
 Incest- is a sexual contact between persons who are so closely related that a

or for profit.
 Rape – is a forced sexual Intercourse.
