Semi-Detailed Lesson Plan

In
Elementary Mathematics 6

I. Objectives
 Multiply up to 3-digit factors by 1-to 2-digit factors of whole numbers and decimals with
or without regrouping.
 Use leisure time wisely
 Solve 1- to 3- digit by 1- to 2-digit factors of whole numbers and decimals

II. Learning Content

Skill: Multiply up to 3-digit factor by 1- to 2-digit factors
References: 21st Century Mathlete pages
Materials: Pictures, flash cards, charts, visual aid, strips of cartolina

III. Learning Experiences:

A. Preparatory Activities
1. Drill/Mental Computation
Teacher show flash cards about multiplication
12 x 6 13 x 5 14 x 9 11 x 7 9x8
2. Checking of Assignment
3. Review
Pupils will sing MATH SONG while passing the balloons. As the song stops,
whoever holds the balloon will pop it. Inside the balloons are questions about
the previous lesson.
Solve and find the difference.

1.95 0.344 52.12 0.861

x 10 X 100 X 1000 X 1000

4. Motivation
Teacher will post a picture. Learners will tell something about the picture and
give examples of leisure they will do during weekends. Teacher will infuse the
value of using leisure wisely.

B. Developmental Activities
1. Presentation

Ruel loves to collect different kinds of butterflies. In one of his framed

collection, he mounted 12 butterflies of one specie with same length and
width. If each butterfly weighs 0.43 gram, what is the total weight of the
butterflies?
Discussion:
1. Analysis of the problem
2. Let the pupils illustrate the butterflies and write the weight of each. Then let
them find the total weight
3. How did you find the answer? What process did you use?

0.43 g 0.43 g 0.43 g 0.43 g 0.43 g 0.43 g

0.43 g 0.43 g 0.43 g 0.43 g 0.43 g 0.43 g

Addition Sentence: 0.43 + 0.43 + 0.43 + 0.43 + 0.43 + 0.43 + 0.43 + 0.43
+ 0.43 + 0.43 + 0.43 + 0.43 = n
Multiplication Sentence: 12 x 0.43 = n
4. Discuss the steps in multiplying decimals
5. Provide other examples

2. Fixing Skills
Using your white board and marker, answer the following questions. Every question
should be answered within 45 seconds.

133 x 0.12 0.432 x 0.23 0.83 x 35

0.914 x 0.6 0.132 x 0.54

3. Generalizations
How do we multiply decimals and whole numbers?
What are the steps in multiplying decimals and whole numbers?

C. Application (Group Activity)

Pupils will group into 5. Solve the puzzle by answering the items below. A decimal point
takes up a whole space itself. All insufficient zeros need not to be written

1 4 5
ACROSS

2 6 1. 15 X 0.3
2. 9 X 0.5
3. 1.55 X 0.3 DOWN
3

4. 1.12 X 0.4
5. 0.07 X 80
6. 5.55 X 100
IV. Evaluation
Write TRUE if the product is correct, CHANGE if it is not. Write your answer on the
space provided.

________1. 0.67 x 0.24 = 0.1608

________2. 0.293 x 34 = 9.962

________3. 0.518 x 0.65 = 0.3337

________4. 0.92 x 57 = 52.44

________5. 0.39 x 0.764 = 0.29896

V. Assignment
Read, analyze and solve the problem
1. Father and other farmers harvested tomatoes for the town’s Tiangge Day. They were
able to fill 56.8 kaings each weighing 9.8 kilograms. How many kilograms of tomatoes
were harvested for the Tiangge Day?
2. If an architect makes a drawing to scale 1 cm represents 4.25 meters, what distance is
represented by 1.8 cm?
